hello,

i used to keep up with all the various differences on chipsets, motherboards etc, but after not doing so for a few months, i am now not sure which one to choose.

I am going to build myself a decent PC using the Core2™Duo E8400 Processor - 3.00GHz Dual Core, Socket 775, 6MB, 1333MHz FSB, 45nm (copied from the price list!)

Now, looking at mobos these are my choices..... what the hell do i choose?

I'm not worried about onboard VGA as i have GTS already. Each one of these damn Mobos has their own chipset....

GIGABYTE® "Intel® 945GC Express Chipset - Socket LGA775 @ FSB1066
GIGABYTE® "S Series" G31 & ICH7 Express Chipset - Socket LGA775 @ FSB1333
GIGABYTE® "NVIDIA Geforce 7050 / nForce 610i Chipset - Socket LGA775 @ FSB1333 OC
GIGABYTE® "NVIDIA Geforce 7100 / nForce 630i Chipset - Socket LGA775 @ FSB1333
GIGABYTE® "S Series" G33 & ICH9R Express Chipset - Socket LGA775 @ FSB1333
GIGABYTE® "S Series" P31 & ICH7 Express Chipset - Socket LGA775 @ FSB1333
GIGABYTE® "S Series" P35 & ICH9 Express Chipset - Socket LGA775 @ FSB1333
GIGABYTE® "S Series" N650SLI MCP Chipset - Socket LGA775 @ FSB133

Please feel free to get technial as i should for the most part understand.
I just need to know which chipset to choose and what the hell the diffs are.

Thanks

Roddy

Would guess that the mobo that supports 45Nm CPU's - P31/G31/33 should support them just the manufatures website.
610/30 is a waterd down version of the 650/690 the 945 is kind of old - and I don't think they support 45Nm CPU's

kewl. thanks for the help.

tried tomshardware but 610i and 630i not listed
