Chlorine in Valpre spring water

So, I just sent an e-mail to Valpre, Coca Cola brand spring water... Drank from a 1.5l bottle up to the label, then caught a strong whiff of chlorine from the bottle. Light burning sensation in my throat. WTF is chlorine doing in spring water?! Think I should get a sample tested... :sick:

Could be bleach they use to sterilise equipment or bottles, still that's a bit worrying if its found it's way into the water :eek:

Yes. It is supposed to be bottled at source, in Heidelberg. I know Bonaqua is not... but Valpre is supposed to be.

I don't mean to start a conspiracy but don't always believe the romanic stories you read on the bottles....

Just want to know if my life is at risk, after drinking this poison. Never again.
 
Have a 1.5l bottle next to me now, took a sniff of the bottle after seeing this thread.. there's certainly a chlorine smell in there.. not too great but it's certainly there.

Mine is very strong... Undrinkable. I drink a lot of the stuff and have never smelled it before.
 
The bottle says that it is "bottled at source" in Heidelberg, but they claim the water is from the Fricona Valley in Natal... with that whole BS story about gentle rainfall and taking up to 15 years to filter through the soil. So, is it from Heidelberg or the Fricona Valley?
 
You surely knew this already. You can smell and taste it clearly. Tap water tastes better anyway, except in summer.
