Surely the department tests the tap water before it makes its way to the pipes? The cholera is surely coming from sources other than tap water...

A lot of municipalities around the country have apparently become quite lazy about proper testing.

Can cholera organisms survive water treatment in the sewerage facilities and be piped out to the unsuspecting Benoni Housewife?

I've tested the tap water at my office here in JHB and there is 0 bacteriological contamination in the water.

Bear in mind that even in Gauteng there are large groups of people who don't have access to reticulated water. These are almost certainly the people who've contracted cholera. Don't panic.

True. These people drink dirty water. Like the case in Cape Town, where bad personal hygiene was culprit   Tap water is safe.

Seriously... why the panicking? Next thing you know a tornado will be ripping through JHB.

Oh wait...
