Choosing the Mesh Wifi device

Thanks. I'll need to check them out. Where does one find these as well locally? Sorry previous post was Huawei response

Both are online :

Both have routers as well - so fairly expensive.

The cheaper AirTies is just he WiFi layer (no router) and the app isn't nearly as polished. But it's a great device nevertheless

On the Huawei, I'm going to upload screenshots of the app and the device etc soon as well.

That was just he performance aspect link

Thanks mate. As much as I like to believe I'm an expert in networking I'm not. Where you say no router in airties you mean I'd connect the primary mesh goodie to my existing router etc?

Any advice or links greatly appreciated.

That would be great. Thanks again. I recently out a second range extender all within an 80m2 property to give you an idea of dead zones.

That's it :)

You plug AirTies into one the LAN ports and switch off your own router WIFi, so that you're only using the AirTies WiFi.

Many of the other mesh systems have one built in (WAN) and can route as well. It's not a bad thing - but for me it'd be a waste

I know that with a strange layout, even 80sqm can be an issue. In my diagram above, you'll see that I have two very difficult locations close by. Although they aren't 'dead' - WiFi does battle to get there.

I've used over 10 different mesh kits including the AirTies 4920 and 4920, Synology mesh kits, Zyxel Multi X, Zyxel Multi U, TP Link Deco kits, Securify Almond mesh, MikroTik mesh kits and others.

That's partly why I was taken back when the guy on my performance thread was trying to take me on

Unifi AC lite + USG router + POE switch.... working brilliantly for 5 years in my home.

Hi, how did you find the tp link deco?

Just 1 AC Lite? How big is your place and what's the internal wall situation like? Been considering moving to Unifi (160sqm across 2 floors) and phasing out my Airties hopefully sometime this year

Not bad at all ... they do have various models and I think I tried the M5?

Though, I haven't tried it in the exact locations of the AirTies / Huawei for a direct comparison .

Is there a reason why you want to phase out your Airties and replace them with Unifis?

I am looking for a solution for a small two storey house (would need to run surface cabling between the two floors for an Acess Point) and two problems seem to come up frequently in internet discussions on mesh systems:
a) random disconnects
b) if your internet speed is 100Mbps you will get that at the first node, then 50Mbps (half) on the secondary node.

Here's the uplink between the unifi mesh ap in my cottage and the AP lite in my roof

No speed issues at all.
