Ok, so very dear friends of mine are having their little baby girl christened shortly.

  • What is the ideal gift for the occasion?
  • Is the gift to the parents or baby?
  • Are there traditional gifts for this or should I treat this the same as a birthday?

They set up an investment account for her and I am considering giving them some money to put into it as it sounds practical? Is this acceptable, lame, rude, what!!??

Crap I suck with gifts! The stress. OMG OMG OMG OMG Breeaaaathe. I thought they said gifting should be a breeze for gays. :D

If it bears any relevance to the gift being traditional or something, they are White, Afrikaans and Christian.

Please please help!??

Can't go wrong with a cross. It could just run a bit expensive, depending on what you're planning to buy.

I would buy her a chew toy and put money ( a grand or 2, but that depends on how dear they are :p ) into the investment account.

Hehehe... Thanks, that was my train of thought :)

I wouldn't spend more than R500-R700 on a gift, if I put money into the account, it will probably be R1000.

I also found this, it's not "Expensive" but it looks very cute and petite, she is only 7 months old though...

Yeah... I only saw that now hehehehe. Thats very cool. Maybe I should get both :D

If you were to receive something like that for a christening gift, would it be ok?

I don't plan on having kids. But I would have loved if my mom had things like that of me.

Girls .. We are sentimental things :D

They had a baby shower and I'm sure they are not expecting gifts again. So some thing like that would be very sweet.
Blu had a baby recently. Lets hope she spots this thread.
