Chrome browser more stable on iPad than Safari

Amazingly Google's Chrome web browser works better on an iPad than Apple's own Safari browser.

I often get instances where Safari freezes up when opening web pages but those same pages work great in Chrome on the iPad.

Whenever I open this page in Safari it freezes and the home button must be pressed to get out. When I open it in the Chrome browser it works without problems.

Others experiencing the same? What on the web page causes Safari to crash?
 
That page loaded without any glitches.

EDIT: Tested on iPad, iPad3, and iPad mini

Loads fine on iPad2.

I have only ever had the occasional problem with Safari, never serious, nor frequent. Chrome on the other hand was slow, and frequently unresponsive. Like a lot of tech, everyone has a different experience.
 
Tried it now again. Freeze. Whatever app opens a browser to view the page freezes. Only works in Chrome. What on earth is wrong with my setup then I wonder.

ISP problem or home network if you're using wifi?

I concur, Safari, tends to freeze when I open multiple windows, extremely frustrating, one would have thought that an esteemed company like Apple would have rectified this by now.... Where is Mr.Jobs when you need him.....

We're not talking about multiple windows we're talking about this one page hanging iOS Safari on his iPad. Is it doing that for you as well?
 
Sorry, jumped into the debate to soon, I have yet to goto that particular page, will give it a bash when I get home after work....

But there are some pages I have been to where Safari freezes, in most cases, I have multiple pages open... I then have to double press home and close Safari, I then open Chrome go to the page again, no problems....

I do though use SAFARI way more than CHROME....
 
I prefer Chrome on the iPad as well but I find it crashes a lot more than Safari. I still use it though as I love the way all the history/bookmarks sync across multiple devices.
 
Okay, I did a complete reset on my iPad Mini, deleting everything. Tested clean installation with the link and Safari works perfectly. Moment I load TweetCaster with it's own browser my Safari is broken. I thought the apps were so sandboxed that this couldn't happen. Did another reset ... Safari works.

Back to standard boring Twitter.

That's impossible. I thought that the AppStore only had the highest quality of apps, and that only Android has such issues? :p

To be fair- TweetCaster seems to be breaking apps on both iOS and Android at the moment...

I'm just happy I got this thing sorted as Safari is the only browser offered when I tap on links in any of the iOS apps I use. Chrome is not an offered option inside apps. This became very frustrating. Seems to be behaving itself now.

FYI, all browsers on iOS have to (for security reasons) use Apple's UIWebView. The only limitation is that the Javascript Nitro engine is still limited to only Apple's Safari; which means Safari will be the faster browser on iOS, until either Nitro is available for all UIWebView apps (more likely), or other rendering engines are permitted on iOS (very unlikely)

That said the App / UI design is all Google; this is the place you'll find the usability differentiation you might prefer.

As to Safari freezing on certain web pages; Yes this has happened to me more often than I like, and can unfortunately only fixed by a reboot/reset.

What [)roi(] said.. UIweb view is a limited almost sandbox safari browser engine. Chrome, opera etc are basically just skinning this limited/secure/stable version of safari.

Serious? Chrome = Safari, but in different skin?
