Chrome for Android gets new Data Saver and offline viewing features

How does affect me as a front end person?

I would get a fit if google all a sudden starts to change my design and my layout.

I believe it states that it wont change anything, except if the person is on a very slow connection, in which case I assume it is better they can access a reduced but usable version of your website than not at all.

I wonder if a user can choose the location where they save all that content. AFAIK, Google apps don't save to external SD cards.

Anyway, UC Browser and Opera Mini are already capable of all that. UC has download pause/resume which is a pretty nifty feature; it blocks ads by default; does not automatically play videos (any videos on any page) by default; and has the best data compression I have experienced. Best part is it's not a huge download, and (the app) can be moved to the external SD card.

So all your data passes through Google's servers, giving even more insight in your browsing habits?
How does it deal with prawn mode?
(Asking for a friend, obviously.)

I am a totalitarian NOTHING must change unless that change was done by me.

Which sites do you manage? Just so I know what to avoid. I think you are missing the whole philosophy of HTML - Provide a guide to the browser of how to display, but allow the browser to adjust the layout to suit the display and user's preferences. Or did the web lose that 15 years ago?

First time I heard that definition did you make that up?

How the site displays is the developers job, it is his job to ensure what he sends to the user is as optimal and efficient as possible.

...

Yup, more or less. Is it that apparent that I last did web editing in 2002?

Although, from wikipedia:
"HTML is a markup language that web browsers use to interpret and compose text, images, and other material into visual or audible web pages."
