The last con (connectivity) kills it for me.
And that's kinda a big con if you ask me.
it does not really need 3g just wifi.If it has 3G then I don't see many situations where you would not have connectivity.
Well I dont think connectivity is such a big issue, as HTML5 have ways to work off-line. you can see it in the new Chrome Gmail app as well as Angry birds.
Early days but I am sure by the time it becomes to norm, most things would be ironed out. I see the future market splinter in regard to computers.
We going to have the Creative side of computing, Photographers, Artists, Developers (Servers would probably also fall in this group) and the Consumer side of computing, the people that just work on pc's be it spreadsheets to word to surfing the net. \
Gamers might be the market that will have an issue. Its not there yet but playing http://www.quakelive.com/ and http://www.onlive.com/ as well as consoles for gaming might be the answer. Yes I know about the input lag but like I say its early days and we are in the wrong country to test them.
I used OnLive in Poland and while there was noticable lag... it's worth noting that 1) it can only get better and 2) everyone has the same "lag" (only bad in MP games). I have to say though... it's a worthwhile trade off to be able to play UT3 MP on a netbook (connected to a decent sized monitor is preferable)
To all journalists: Please don't use the word "killer"... you're just making an idiot of yourself. Show of true ignorance of the way the world works.
Clearly this won't kill windows. Windows will not disappear because of Chromebooks. The question is will it it take 3% marketshare or 7% marketshare in the next few years.
