Chromecast with Google TV

Ok hope this is why my google tv chromecast more expensive at SmartSpeakers than at Geewiz
Geewiz confirmed they have the 4gb version, not sure what Takealot have. But looking for the 8gb one

I confirmed with a few suppliers and they also mentioned 8GB. Maybe faulty descriptions on website. How is this Chromecast doing for you guys compared to a MiBox? I am looking for opting this Chromecast. Reviews on the internet says it is quite good.

Got mine yesterday.

Its ok. Nothing better than my previous chromecast. Although pro is that my dumb tv navigates now like my smart TV.

I came from 2 X Telkom LITs to these devices, been 6 months now.

Overall works great. Remote can control source, volume and power of TV and Soundbar via CEC or IR which is great.

Standard it is wireless and power goes into USB-C port, so no way to add extra storage. You can get a special power adapter which plugs into the USB-C port which also has ethernet port. Some folk have also used a powered USB-C hub to get extra ports and ethernet.

Note: Your TVs USB ports can't be used to power the Chromecast as the don't deliver enough power.

It's a streaming device, it does that job well. If you want something to be more of a media centre, look at the MiBox or others.

Bought mine in January, to replace my Mi Box 3. Mi Box 3 had a few issues, that was actually sorted with an update, just after I gave it away to a family member.
No issues, works great with Netflix, Plex, Amazon prime and Showmax. I don't have DSTV, so no comment on that.

I actually bought a USB-C hub thingy and tested Dreamcast, SNES and some other emulators, with great success. My plex started to buffer, but came right, after I removed the USB hub thingy. Didn't care to play games on it, again. So, you can play games on it, but it's not what it was made for.
