I really don't see this hurting Linux at all. It simply means that we have the second biggest IT company in the world backing a distro. That in itself will likely make people think twice before they dismiss Linux again.
As for cloud computing and the storage of company confidential data, have you not heard of the feature in the new HTML 5 standard for client side storage of data (not caching but true storage)? Now what is stopping a company from going to a cloud based app provider and asking them to set them up as a client and have their instances of the application point to a company based storage solution rather than the cloud or the browser client's host?
