Chrysler Bankruptcy Plan Is Announced

How does this affect Daimler-Chrysler?

DETROIT — Daimler of Germany said on Monday that it had agreed to divest its remaining 19.9 percent stake in Chrysler, ending an ordeal that began with a stunning 1998 merger but went sour.

Can you say "mistake by Mercedes-Benz"?

Well, if anyone has actually paid attention to any American TV show/movie and seen the American cars Americans drive...

With cars THAT HIDEOUS! no wonder they're going bust.

The 2nd worst car I've ever driven in my entire life (the worst being an oooold klapped out Beatle) was a rental Chrysler PT Cruiser. The interior was the cheapest plastic ever. Old Golf 1s put it to shame.

American car companies: Take care now. Bye bye then.

Americans: buy some decent European, Japanese and Korean cars now.

I never liked Chrysler anyways. What is really sad is that GM decided to cut Pontiac...
That sucks even more than them slashing Opel from SA. Pontiac has made some pretty memorable cars.

And now Fiat is buying Opel....interesting times!!

For real ?

That is excellent news! They have worked together pretty well in the past. The Grande Punto is built on the same GM Gamma platform that Opel developed for the Corsa and the Brera uses the GM Premium platform that SAAB (dead) and Opel developed. The old diesel Corsa bakkies had engines either from Isuzu or Fiat if I remember correctly.

So Opel and Fiat together is very good news indeed ;)

I heard it on SKY or CNN at lunch time, it would be an interesting marriage!
