Obviously "different strokes for different folks" but I'm quite happily moving between F14/Gnome2 and F16/Gnome3 (with Tweaks customisation) on my dev systems these days. Is there a specific reason why you opt for Cinnamon on Fedora instead of switching to Linux Mint?

Its not like gnome-shell is terrible or anything, Its just a big adjustement not having a task bar. I know there is the dock extension etc. But I just found I was working much slower. Its seems to me that Cinnamon has the best of both worlds. Been using fedora since I started using linux. I did try linux mint but I didn't enjoy it that much plus the severs I work with are all centos based so things are pretty similair between my desktop OS and server OS which I like.

... Its just a big adjustment not having a task bar.

I hear what you're saying, I initially tried a few docks as well but now install Gnome Shell Frippery and Gnome Tweak tool to get the classic task-bar back together with pull down menus and favourites in the top panel. Maybe not as attractive as Cinnamon but it gets productivity back to normal.

Check it out here http://intgat.tigress.co.uk/rmy/extensions/index.html

Thought I would also struggle with Gnome 3 when I started using it, but now I love it and it's so damn sexy compared to gnome 2, unity and kde. All I want is a window list (task bar) on the top panel that works like the notification area at the bottom (it must show all the running apps icons but only show its name if you hover over it). If anybody finds an extension like this, please let me know!

I think I'm one of the few unity lovers out there, but I tried Cinnamon after unity, and while it was pleasant, I just found it much more cumbersome to use.

Gnome-shell is the bomb :D Love it!

It is project in development--the full concept will only come with time. But, even now, it is totally usable and imho intuitive (try the keyboard shortcuts, and leave the mouse for a while, it will change in the way you see a pc--it will be "personal again".
