Getting up and Running with Apexdc 1.5.0 on the Circle of Fire

1. Download Apexdc 1.5.0 from These Links local links Or

YOU NEED WINRAR FOR THIS SET

Download Par 1 - 3. Before Extracting.
2. Once Downloaded Extract the rar files (You Will Need Winrar or 7Zip)
3. Run Apexdc Installation File, If your Firewall Asks, (Allow It)
4. If you are upgrading from 1.4.3 Select Custom Install
5. Untick (Custom EmoPacks) as well as (GeoIP)
6. Click Next
7. It will give you an option to install Driverscan Pro, I recommend No
8. Select Create Desktop Icon / Current User Only) Store settings for each windows account.
9. Once Installed Open and Run Apexdc
10. NOW For the setup

RELEVANT STEPS TO GETTING UP AND RUNNING WILL BE NUMBERED...
EXTRA OPTIONS OR EXPLANATIONS WILL DENOTED AS (a) (b) (c) etc.

In Apexdc you’ll find a Toolbar at the top. For This Manual I’ll be Working Left to Right
Following Each Option .So e.g. if you click on file, Menu drops down, explanation of each point.

a) FILE OPEN FILE LIST - Once you have downloaded someone’s file list, you can quickly open a saved List of theirs.

b) OPEN OWN LIST - This will allow you to open your own shared files, as another user would see them.
This would also be used so you can paste a magnet link of a specific file in the hub, which makes it easier for the person to download a file from you.

C) MATCH DOWNLOAD LISTS - This will search your list and compare it with another users shared files.

d) REFRESH FILE LISTS - This will auto refresh your shared file list with any new content you add.

1) E) QUICK CONNECT - This will allow you to enter the hub Address. Which Is - :

f) FOLLOW LAST DIRECT - This will auto connect you to the last hub you were redirected to.

g) RECONNECT - This will auto connect to the hub you were connected to last.

SETTINGS - REFER TO MANUAL EXPLANATION IN DIFF SECTION BELOW

VIEW TAB...

a) Public Hubs - Lists International hubs on the Hub list

b) Recent Hubs - Views The recent hubs you connected to

c) Favorite Hubs - Will show your Fav. Hubs, these will Auto Connect If The box is Ticked.

d) Favorite Users - This will allow you to see your favorite users, they will auto get a slot from you if you select them as favorite. I.e.) No Queues

E) Search - This will open the search View, Where you can specify a file you would like to find on the hub.

f) ADL search - Search using a File string

g) Search Spy - Useful to see what other users are searching for, you need to leave enabled to gather results.

h) CDM Debug - Messages (Will report errors or faults)

I) Notepad - Useful for keeping notes of anything you wish, close tab to save what you have written, and Click the icon to open again.

j) System Log - Will show you File List Refreshes etc.

k) Always on Top - Keeps Apexdc on top of all windows, in background, useful for watching a movie etc. while you are on the hub.

l) Tick boxes so as not to display diff options in Apexdc

TRANSFERS

a) Download Queue - Shows the files in queue waiting to download from other users,
You can also manage your queue by Giving high preference to files, cancelling or pausing them

b) Shows All completed downloads (CNTRL - Z) Will open the directory were they have downloaded to.

c) Upload Queue - This will show you all the files users have requested to download from you.

d) Finished Uploads - This will show all the completed files or parts of to users that have downloaded from you.

e) Network Statistics - This will show you the upload and download speed of your connection while using Apexdc

WINDOWS

These options will allow you to customize your Apexdc, as in Cascade View / Horizontal View etc.

2.) GENERAL

Nick – Fill in Any Nick You’d like to Use on the Hub
Email – Optional
Description - Your ISP and Your Line Speed
Line Speed – Drop Down select Closest Option to your line speed.


3.) CONNECTION SETTINGS

How are u connecting to dsl... is it using (1) ppp (DIALING your internet connection into modem)
Or (2) Username and Password for your internet connection is SAVED in modem
If its first option, make sure the points a) b) and c) are correct as per below.
If it’s Option (2) DO ALL THE FOLLOWING SETTINGS

Bind Address
Network Interface - 0.0.0.0

Select Firewall with Manual Port Forwarding
Below that is TCP – (The port no. you enter here is 60616)
Below that is UDP - (The port no. you enter here is 60616)
Below that Is TLS - (This is a secure Port Protocol Leave it as 0)
Below that Is DHT/UDP - (Leave this on 0 as well)
b) Wan I.P - Leave Blank

Tick Don’t Allow Hub / Upn To Overwrite
c) Outgoing Connection - on Direct Connect

DO PORT FORWARDING ON YOUR ROUTER FOR TCP AND UDP using same port number as entered in apex – 60616 in the Tcp and Udp Fields.
Please check www.portforward.com for a guide for your modem, If you really battle, a hub operator will help you out, so you can get started.


Bandwidth Limiting

Is NOT allowed on the Circle Of Fire Hub

DOWNLOADS

Set your default Download Directory as well as Incomplete Downloads dir.
(PLS SHARE BOTH FOLDERS) To Open your Download Dir. Use Shortcut Cntrl - z

Favorites

Set your fav/ download directories, so u can easily specify if its music / video etc. were to save.

If you have enough parts you can preview a file

Priority Settings are set here
Auto Search Alt TTH Source 10 mins.
Don’t Begin New Segment if Overall speed = x

NB.** SHARING

SHARED DIRECTORIES

Tick all the folders that you’d like to share on the hub.
After Each tick, it will ask you for the Relevant Name for Each Folder Share
I.e. / Audio / Video / Game etc.

Network Share
You can also share folders across a Lan or
External HD (Please Assign Your External a Drive Letter, and Switch Drive on First before Opening Apexdc) Prevents files being hashed again.

Auto Refresh Time – Change to 15 Mins. (Will Auto Refresh Your List if more is Shared)
Max Hash Speed – 9999 (Shortcut Key For Refreshing your file list is Cntrl - E

UPLOAD SLOTS

Specify the amount of Upload Slots
I.e.) The number of Uploads From you to a user at One time.

Important Please Note
On a 384k line - Open 1 slot
On a 512k line - Open 1 slot
On a 1meg line - Open 1 - 2 Slots
On a 4meg line - Open 2 - 3 slots
On a 8meg / 10meg Open 6 - 8 slots
Small upload slots – the default is 3 and set to 512kb
Optional - allow incomplete partial downloads an extra slot No
APPEARANCE
Various Diff Appearance Settings Such As Font Size Change
User List Colours Etc...

SOUNDS

If you’d like to enable sounds, so if you get a p.m. your pc beeps etc.

You can Change or Remove certain Default Toolbar Icons.

However if you forward a port you can axcess your download queue in your browser

Here you can set your socket read buffer and write to disk buffer as well as the buffer or chunk size, to be written at a time.

Plus extras can be set here.

PLUGIN SUPPORT

To Install In Apexdc Click Settings / Plugins ... Install From There, and configure.

The Plugins are 32 bit as well as 64 bit Version's.

MediaPlayers.dll - Plugin enables your client to have a media playbar, on the top right, To control Audio playback from winamp / foobar etc Vol UP / Vol Down / Play / Stop / Pause / Skip are featured.
I use it quite a lot my playlist in foobar is on random, so instead of minimizing apexdc, changing track to next random song, in foobar, i am able to do that in Apexdc Smile

DISPLAY Music for the Soul : Depeche Mode - Walking in my Shoes at 128kbps

Users can customise media information message to be displayed. Click
File > Settings > Advanced > bottom right, customise the Winamp box. To announce media information, type /w

For other players to announce in the main chat, you need the media player plug-in.

Latest plugins that are compatible with ApexDC++ 1.4.3 can be downloaded from our downloads page

Installing these plugins, allows you to announce the song you are playing in the main chat, as well as allow the control of specified media players direct in Apexdc++ via a media toolbar:

Media players supported and tested is as follows:
1. Native windows media player v9+
2. Foobar2000_v1.0.1 with added foo_winamp_spam.dll-plugin(this will emulate it as winamp)
3. Winamp
4. The KM Player (extra notes below)

Plugin required - MediaPlayers.dll
Available in both 32bit and 64bit.

Extract files to ApexDC++ install folder (win7(x64):C:\Program Files\ApexDC++\)

After extracting the plugins, install them : File > Settings > Plugins

Extra notes:

For Foobar, install the appropriate plugin <in>. Use winamp settings - foobar plugin emulates this.

If plugin is installed correctly you will now have a Media Player Plugin.
Click on it and select the 'config' tab.

In settings you will get 3 players that u can use and announce what you are listening to.
There is an extra setting 'Media Bar Settings' - tick to get the media toolbar in Apex and select your player (foobar users please select winamp if you have the 'foo_winamp_spam.dll' plugin installed in your Foobar player (see notes under foobar folder).

KM Player (additional settings)
VIP note - when you install KM Player, an option to “install winamp plugin” would appear. If this setting was NOT selected during install, you need to reinstall KM Player and select the winamp plugin support.

LuaPlugin.dll - Plugin used so Apexdc is more compatible with lua programming language.

BOTS AND SCRIPTS

Enhancements are present on the hub

DEMONKNIGHT - He Is our main Hub Bot - Any new releases that users have posted, or any important information, that is sent will appear via a Demonknight tab, To Obtain Your Allowed Commands Pm +help to Demonknight

SERIES BOT - By typing +next followed by a space and any series name and enter, will bring up results, to when the next Episode of the series will be aired, same can be done with +last followed by space and series name.

USER ACTION BOT - Right Click a nick, or the hub tab in main chat, then select User Actions > Attack (For a bit of Fun)
There are also DO" Actions eg. Baphomet Gulps Down An Ice Cold one, by selecting "Beer" in Do Commands.
Insults / Modern / Medieval / Can Be Directed at a user.
SPELLS - If you not careful and misbehave, we can cast a fun spell on you,
anything from a chicken to a crazy frog!!

Hub Commands entered in Main chat

/r- shows your personal ratio on the hub

/w - shows the song you currently listening to

/g and search string - opens browser and search with google

/h - shows you the commands available to you

/i imdbq (where imdbq is name of the movie or series) - search from IMDB database

/showjoins - enable/disable show joins & parts in mainchat

/away msg (where msg is your personal message) - enable/disable away mode

/ut - Shows Hub Uptime

/stats – Shows your stats Your Pc uptime etc

HOW TO ADD A NEW RELEASE

File > Open Own List (A folder listing of your files will open)
In folder on the left find file you want to post a new release of. In right hand window, right click file and select copy > select copy magnet link to Clipboard.
In main chat tab and right click The Hub Tab. Select User Commands
Select DaemonKnight and a new menu will pop up. Select Get Req/Release Command.

A message in main chat will state Req Commands been sent to Client.
Right Click The Hub Tab again and Select User Commands. At the bottom below DaemonKnight, select Request/Releases. Select Add New Release - pop up will give options as to what type of release. Select type and box will open where you paste your magnet link copied earlier.
Done

Please rename the files you are releasing with the Int. Standard Release Name's

COD MW2 SERVER ONLINE

Heya guys,

COF Local Dc++ In A Box

Circle of Fire Dc++ :D

Easier than ever before. Download, extract, run and auto-connect. Its that easy.

With the release of our new Circle of Fire in aBox version of ApexDC++ being released it makes it even easier than before to get started. All the client settings for the hub, emopacks, plugins etc all included.

Step 01: For our windows users download the CoF Distro from Circle of Fire http://www.circle-of-fire.co.za Download section. Once downloaded on the installer/extraction screen make sure that you select your path as C:\Program Files\ApexDc++\

If you're using Mac OSX or Linus you can download Shakespear/Jucy - Links will be available on our site soon.

Step 02: Install ApexDC++ and launch program.If your firewall asks whether to allow it or not select allow.

Step 03: Click File / Settings / General. Change your Nick from the default to one you'd like to use, and your ISP details in the description. Please incl Your line speed and your internet service provider info; eg. 4mg telkom, 384 mweb, etc.

Step 04: Click File / Settings / Sharing. Select all the files that you have and share them . Hub requirements is a minimum of 60GB but more is better.

Step 05: Once you have shared minimum you can close and re-open ApexDC++ you will automatically connect to the hub.

Step 06: Once you have joined the hub DaemonKnight will greet you with a Read me text - IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU READ IT!

Step 07: In the main hub tab, in the text box below type +regme followed by a space and a password of your choice; eg. +regme 123

Step 08: At the top where the icons are you will see an orange star icon. Click on it and select the only hub Circle of Fire in the list right click and select properties. Add your username and password and click on OK.

Step 09: An operator will PM you apon arrival with further setup instructions. These will include making sure that your client is correctly configured, that your share meets the requirements of the hub and to setup port forwarding for ApexDC++.

Step 10: Welcome to Circle of Fire. Download as much as you like and REMEMBER to invite your friends.
