I’m an aspiring Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) starting out in the field as a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). I am looking for job opportunity at a company in order to enable me to achieve this goal by obtaining the necessary skill and experience required, while also delivering on the dictated job requirements.
I'm a honest, loyal and hard working individual.

Please any assistance will be appreciated

I've tried but they all want huge experience and I need a place that is willing to take me to build up my experience.

not to crush your dreams, but a CCIE is not exactly the easiest or fastest thing to get. I know, im writing my lab in May, and i have studied my ass off, and I am expecting to fail, because its my first attempt.

Which CCIE track are you looking at going?
Obviously, gear your job towards the track.

CCNA pretty much means nothing, CCNP, also means nothing. Also note, that the CCIE has no pre-requisites, so technically you dont need to do any other exams except the written and lab.

You can either apply to a largish company, and work your way up from 1st line, or apply to a small company, become a jack of all trades, and get to know the technologies through exposure.

You might not work on Cisco equipment at a smaller company, but you will get an understanding of how things work. After that, its simply the interface that changes (with the exception of propriatary stuff)

Thank you, I know all those things but I would prefer to build experience and study at the same time. I'm unsure in which direction I must go. Either Voice or Security.

I just need to get my foot in the door and build myself up. I know it will take time but I am willing to put in all the effort and time that is needed to get there. [I've done A+ and N+, Mcse with damelin but never got to get the experience] now it is 8 years later and want to get back into it.

I got CCNA Certified in November last year and i'm now either going to do voice or security for my next exam.

I've used and worked with various software and Operating systems. I really know my way around a computer. I've got experience with smaller networks and lots of maintenance and troubleshooting on PC's but I need to get into a proper company to get the experience on bigger LANs & WANs

There is quite a bit of money in voice, but its not for everyone.
Security requires quite a good understanding of all the disciplines (this varies though depending on your security role)

The lines between Security and tracks like R&S are getting closer.
AS an idea, look at the requirements for CCIE Lab, its got everything from routing protocols, IPSEC, router and switch support, ISE, wireless and voice.

At my previous position, I interviewed people with Cisco certs coming out of their ears. Ask them simple questions like explain exactly how NAT works, or what actually happens in the 3 way handshake, and they fall apart.

Braindumping has ruined almost all certifications. Im not saying dont get them, because they have their place in the corporate world, just dont expect them to get you a glorious job on a large enterprise network.

Like i said, you need to work your way up unfortunately. The big difference between a 3rd line guy and a 2nd and first, is his/her ability to troubleshoot quickly, and deal with large projects. Most people can implement daily changes, its the troubleshooting that makes a good engineer

I've realized that there is money in Voice. But at this moment it isn't really about the money (don't get me wrong I need to earn a living) but I am willing to sacrifice my current salary to half just to get into the game.

I've always been a quick learner and don't want to take any shortcuts. That is why I want to work and study and not just get qualifications.

I just need to get my foot in the door and prove that I have what it takes. You see IT is something that I live for. I don't just see it as a job.

Hi EddG,

Depended where you KZN or Joburg, give First Technology a try.
I have worked for them in the past and what nice is you will a lot of exposure across the board of different size companies.

try IS also..
they tend to groom from call centre to support up into their more senior teams..
