Thanks for clarifying, are you able to try sp1.cisp.co.za and let me know?i'm using a docker based build of speedtest, can you give me your jhb server url please.
G
Thanks for letting me know.i can ping it, but it seems it's not a speedtest server on the list of speedtest servers.
if i open speedtest and pick cool ideas, which server does it point to.
previously used liquid's server, but the latency is bad to that. want to get as close to me as possible.
G
Thanks for confirming. Please let me know if you need anything elsethink i got it working, was able to get the SPEEDTEST_SERVERS id (6591) and used that.
will advise

Thank you for your positive feedback, it is greatly appreciatedGotta love CISP! Best provider ever!
HI there, Ill be sure to let you know once its back upi'd be keen to see my latency checks against Cpt once it's back up... as the previous liquid server was in Cpt and I can see a difference in values to it and values to the CISP Jhb server.

| For a true test of your line, you will need to plug a network cable directly into your fibre box. Please ensure that you are using either a CAT5e, Cat6 or CAT7 Ethernet cable. Your PC/laptop must be capable to reach a gigabit speed or the adapter (1 Gbps) When saving the results please ensure that date and time is displayed. Could you please follow the speed test guide below and submit the results once done. Please click on the menu on the right then select your region. Kindly ensure that you run the test 3 times 30 minutes intervals. https://shop.vumatel.co.za/ or Vx/ISP Handover Speed Test Please download the MTR app from the website listed below https://winmtr.en.uptodown.com/windows Once you have installed it, please enter 1.1.1.1 in the text box provided (please click here for guidelines). Please also include the speed test, run all this tests for 40 minutes and send your results to us. It's best that you do this whilst you are experiencing the issue so that we can catch it in the act. |
Hi there, apologies for any inconvenience.Have had a CI 200 mbps fibre service for 2 years. Middle of last week, it seemed a bit slow and on using MyBB Speed test, it showed 95 mpbs. There is a TP-Link AX5400 router attached to a Vumatel ONT
Spoke to a gent at CI who sent some instructions I have been unable to follow. I don't know if I am making a mistake, but the result is not what I expected
I connected a Cat7 LAN cable from the ONT to the PC
This is the instruction below:
The shop.vumatel link asks me for my address and then offers some packages. The Vx link says a speed test is only available from inside the network
The MTR app shows 100 mbps. It initially stated 0 mbps, then seemed to wake up. Tried it for 90 mins with the same result each time
I have no idea what I am looking at

For the Shop.Vumatel link, normally you would need to navigate to the Top right, select Speed tests and then your regionThe shop.vumatel link asks me for my address
Sorry for the delay, I missed this earlier.ye i also get this run around when asking about speed test...
i get my speed up as contracted, but down seem to always be low...now they dont want to accept the values as it is not as per what they want...
i want to see them tell a non it person that contracts them for a service to go through this whoops when things are not right...
will be doing the ONT one sometime, the share that result with my speed test that run every 15 min, show how they align and that will be the end of passing the buck to me first...

... i tried in the nicest way to explain to support person that my test run on a dedicated machine directly plugged into my edge router which goes into the ONT.Sorry for the delay, I missed this earlier.
In order to isolate an issue, and to report it to the FNO, its required to do Direct ONT tests to rule out as many factors as possible, such as your internal network.
If you have any problems, feel free to reach out and ill be happy to assist .
Thank you for the detailed feedback. Its truly appreciated.... i tried in the nicest way to explain to support person that my test run on a dedicated machine directly plugged into my edge router which goes into the ONT.
previously... my package was 500/500... where i got 500 down and 250 up... average, with peeks now and then up to 500... implying my setup can do both up and down at that speed, after eventually giving up, and just saying f it... left it, and guess what, 2 months later my up was avg 450... now we have to ask... where was the problem all the time.
with you guys now.. i get 500 up, but my down hardly goes over 850, peek to 900 now and then.
i've done tests agains the test server t make sure the port can do a full 1000 and it's able to.
i'm just pass trying to explain myself to level 1 engineers, and the whoops that my case MFN is my FNO demand.
their attitude to the customer actually suck.. it the customer to that have to bend backwards through 1000 whoops before they willing to have a look... or they demand the customer pay for them to come check their service. would love to see them last in a market like the USA...
