go through the settings ,there is a lot of clic click to do and make sure you save all steps ,if not in the settings you will need an obd emulator for that car ,not all have compliant ,I think citroen calls it a stage 2 obd ,it also depends on the engine used and which bcm was used

I only recently tested my 2016 Citroen's auto wipers and headlights, both work from the same sensor.
When switched on the appropriate message will be displayed but the problem is it will be in the always on status. Doesn't matter if there's rain or not, for the wipers and sunlight or nighttime for the headlights.

Anyone have any experience with something like this or have knowledge with Citroen cars that could help me with this?
The only info i could find online mentions a grounding wire problem but not how it was tested or fixed.

I am by no means a mechanic so any advice would be appreciated.
I dont know of any Citroen specialists or services centers in Bloem. Not sure if this is something that just any center could assist.

BTW, there's no error codes on the build-in diagnostics page.

Looks like the rain sensor is in the rearview mirror.

Are you sure it's not just a dirty windshield?

Yes, i know it sits there, just wish it was easy to access then i could check the connection and cables but alas i dont know how to open it.
I have tested just after cleaning and same results.

Probably not much you can do beyond checking fuses and such.

One thing you could try is disconnecting the battery for a few hours. Seen that solve weird once-off electrical issues.

I'll give that a go and check the fuses but if it still continues ill contact an auto electrician.

No reason to try get to the sensor ,that can be tested from the bcm ,or via software ,take it to the agent and speak to the service manager before you do anything don't fiddle with a Citroen ,the canbus is not user testable and one wrong tester may blow an output costing you thousands .disconnecting can also cause an error which will also cost to get reset .and just by the by a BCM unit starts at around R1.5k for a citroen so fiddle at your own risk (sorry for being blunt ) see it in the workshop weekly and they are not serviceable by any Paki .ps if it is the sensor thaty are not expensive and the agent will have stock .Personally ,live with it .it's not a necessity only a nice to have ,leave it be until you have gone through all the settings ,those cars have a lot of functions for headlights etc . .

Not sure, bought the car 2nd hand and nothing was stated that it was ever replaced.

Dont even know how to access the sensor, could look for a vid showing how to.
Was it working when you bought the car?

Unfortunately i never needed to use or tried to use them until recently.
It was very cloudy and raining so i thought, great ill set it to auto and "forget" about it. And that's when i realized they dont work as intended.
When i drove to an area where it stopped raining i saw that the wipers just kept on going, weird.
And when i started driving later the day when the sun was out in full swing my lights were still on, weird.
That's when i started checking both and testing.
Cleaned the sensor area, still same experience etc.

Doesn't look like an easy DIY job tbh... Especially for someone without experience.
It’s a lot easier than you think. The mirror cover is put together by a few clips and a pry with a screw driver undoes them. Then you twist the sh*t out of the mirror and it pops out. Sensor should come out.

Putting it together is just a reverse of this (no tools required).

Easiest way to check:

Walk around the car and look at the logo on the windows. The logo (and make) should be the same on all windows. They typically has the car manufacturers logo on them. Sometimes the windscreen is different b it this a rare.

Thanks, didnt know that. Will do that.
But if the windscreen was replaced, what would be the next step in getting the sensor to work? Would it need to be recalibrated or?

I honestly do not know but it is worth a try. Call a dealer and see how much they charge for a recalibration or for a new sensor .
