I only recently tested my 2016 Citroen's auto wipers and headlights, both work from the same sensor.
When switched on the appropriate message will be displayed but the problem is it will be in the always on status. Doesn't matter if there's rain or not, for the wipers and sunlight or nighttime for the headlights.

Anyone have any experience with something like this or have knowledge with Citroen cars that could help me with this?
The only info i could find online mentions a grounding wire problem but not how it was tested or fixed.

I am by no means a mechanic so any advice would be appreciated.
I dont know of any Citroen specialists or services centers in Bloem. Not sure if this is something that just any center could assist.

BTW, there's no error codes on the build-in diagnostics page.

Take it to an auto electrician. might be a mall issue.
Thanks, never thought about that. Ill phone around and try to find one that has had previous experience with Citroen cars.
Also check your lights, I have seen cars do strange things because of a blown bulb, check the fuses as well, could be some dodgy fail safe feature.
All lights are working, nice and bright but ill have a look at the fuses, you never know.

Really hope it is something small and easy to fix.

Thanks for the help guys

I know dealers are scary but I would take it there first, it will probably be something they have seen before or something they can diagnose with their fancy machines.

There's no Citroen dealer in Bloem though.
Back when i still had a BMW, i knew the head mechanic at a BMW dealership and got great service and help, until he left, then it all went to ****.

Is it really a problem though? If you switch the lights or rain sensor to auto it's telling you that it's on?

BTW French cars do have a terrible rep in South Africa. I know in Europe they are incredibly popular, but here, a few years ago at least, the reliability and available of parts was terrible.

--edit-- ah ok, the wipers keep wiping...yeah that's not good.

My thoughts as well. My auto headlight and wiper light is always "on" on my stalk.

Yes, same with wipers
By that you mean if you leave it on auto in the middle of a sunny day the lights will stay on and the wipers will wipe continuously?

French vehicles are renowned for peculiar canbus related issues, I wouldn't be surprised if that's what's going on here and using the wrong type or wattage of bulbs can make the canbus act up and cause issues in unrelated areas.

Are you sure it's included in the cars trim package ,that is settable in the parameters if the function is available .you may need somebody with a scanner for Citroen a Temu or standard Takealot obd reader wont work .

Was the windscreen replaced in the cars lifetime?
What happens if you unplug the sensor?

That's a good one, I have heard of an aftermarket windscreen replacement or poor installation causing sensor issues

Yes, they stay on, wipers keep well wiping and lights just stay illuminating.

Not sure, bought the car 2nd hand and nothing was stated that it was ever replaced.

Dont even know how to access the sensor, could look for a vid showing how to.
