Civic 1.8i vs civic type r

Clutch is not that expensive. Comes to around R7000 fully installed at the dealers. Transmission is never cheap..

Mmmmm, dnt have heated seats, but you surely do have PDC, auto wipers, auto lights and USB and Aux input?? Trying to sell the VXI I see :) Plus the Type R makes up for not having "heated seats" by having a very heated engine.. Buy it!! I have one
Yes, the VXi does have PDC, auto wipers and -lights and USB and aux inputs... AFAIK the Type R from the same period didn't have those fitted. Seeing as the OP mentioned luxury, the VXi auto or post 2009 manuals should fit the bill.

Mmmm, funny then that mine has that. Just not PDC and USB. But those are available on any model after 2009.

I think I will go for VXI - after my 200sx, I don't want to have to worry about replacing performance parts

Just as a little side note, the normal parts on the VXI aint that cheap either, and only a lil bit cheaper than on the R. You can also get a full maintenance plan

Yes, they are quite pricey.
I've been quoted the following over the past couple years of ownership:
Wiper blades - R900 a pair
Single front fog light - R2000
Left side plastic sill (under the door frame) - R2000
Battery - R1000

I managed to source wiper blades from a UK store on ebay for a total of R250 all incl.

Besides tyres, I haven't had any other expenses over the 3.5years of ownership of my VXi hatch.

Parts prices are similar on my side, except that I opted for a full maintenance plan when I bought the car. :D I've replaced the battery and wiper blades so far. Only thing it hasn't covered is the front fog light that cracked, which I haven't replaced yet (due to the high price).
