I have been struggling to sync since Saturday afternoon 24th Jul, line sync holds for a while without making a connection to the internet (ie. authenticate my DSL username & password) then drops and continue to cycle like that.

Only had time to get through to Telkom technical support today, they tell me that the Claremont Exchange is offline, can anybody else confirm this? Anybody else having DSL problems in Claremont?

Many Thanks.

They are feeding you BS.

If a whole exchange (the size of Claremont) were offline they would have put out a press release.

Moggie was right, was BS from Telkom, asked them to rebuild the port on their side, working 100% now.

Thanks.

Clareinch is on the Telkom recorded message for ouatges. (Clareinch=Claremont)

I know but most guys think the exchange name = suburb name, so I don't want to confuse the issue. As you know there are quite a few DSLAMs in Clareinch exchange and if the exchange was "down" as the OP was told, then it would have had a big impact !!!

There is only one Telkom exchange in Claremont AFAIK, and it is called Clareinch, next to the post office of the same name in Lansdowne Road and corner of 2nd Ave (also next to Claremont police station). If you have any doubt, here's a Google Map to show the surrounding areas:

My ADSL connection has been fine, so it might be a few DSLAM's being worked on...

Correct and Correct.

I'm on that exchange - DSL has been fine, mostly. I have a ticket open with WA because I seem to lose all internet connectivity at random intervals, but only for about 1-3 mins. DSL link and account are still connected when this happens. They have now deferred to Telkom... yay.

Im in Observatory and my connection have been unstable since saturday. Im online but every now and again i lose the connection for a minute or two and are back up again.

I have logged a call with Telkom, but they closed the call earlier today signalling all is fine, which is mot as its intermittent... Now im not sure how to explain as these call centre people doesnt seem to understand. My calls also drop, so i think its a line issue all together, or am i wrong?
