Classic Arcade Games

sorry i only saw that reply now. someone said to me a long time ago to play it through dosbox but i have no idea how that works, i am no computer fundy.

Thanks, but i would like to DIY it, like a turnkey project for me and my son.

just remember if you hack a keyboard you can only press so many buttons at once before conflicts - the joypad has none of those problems...

(oh, and i meant buy the joypad only, build the cab yourself....)

True that, perhaps it would be better to just buy them. No use in going to all the trouble with the cabinet and all, and you have problems playing because of shoddy controls. ;)

I'm quite proud of the fact that I've got the complete MAME ROM set including all the CHD files. It's a whopping 46GB in size!

I've got so many favorites dating right back to Space Invaders, Pac Man etc so it is difficult to choose one that I like most. Some of my favorites are Galaga, Gyruss, Time Pilot, Operation Wolf, R-Type, Wardner, Scramble Formation Tokio, Flying Shark, New Zealand Story and many others.

My best arcade gaming memory was sometime in the 80s in a dark arcade somewhere. I walked up to a game that I was really good at, Time Pilot. I dropped my 20c into the machine. Suddenly a mean looking dude walked up and did likewise, telling me that we were going to play 2 player and that I should go first. Still being a young schoolboy at the time I did not complain and proceeded to play the game of my life. At that stage I could play Time Pilot indefinitely on 1 credit. An hour or two later I still have lot lost my first man and the mean dude was getting really pissed off. Eventually the arcade closed and he did not get to play at all! :D

ooooh- bubble bobble doubles mode!!!

I used to dream about Bubble Bobble... My brother and I have clocked the arcade version on one credit.. no other way to do it.. thats WITH both arcade cheats though, not sure its possible without the cheats!!??!

Last time I had a full set of roms was in version 80.
There's only about 20 games I play anyway.

True. It becomes really difficult finding what you're looking for amongst thousands and thousands of ROMs. But it's nice to have the complete set nonetheless.
