Can anyone recommend a really good quality valet? I have faded paint on my roof and an hour of rubbing compound isn't cutting it back enough.

CT Southern Subs for me, but countrywide recommendations are welcome for those elsewhere.

A clay bar doesn't cut.

Go DIY though, you can buy the clay from Rally at any Builders Warehouse. Won't do anything for faded paint though.

Ok, where can I take it to have it restored a bit? I don't think it's too bad. It's just been standing out in the Sun too much.

You'll need to strip everything down to the paint ( already at that point probably) and have it restored. You can't do it yourself as you'll need the polishers etc.

Visit the vwclub forums or even the bmwfanatics forums as they have sponsors there maybe from CT.

The true word is DETAIL(ING) , not valet ...

Ok great. Thank you. I'll look into this. How do I protect my paint again after it had been restored? Just regular Polish?

Unless thick single stage paint, you wont be able to restore this. Keeping paint in good nick is a maintenance game and UV is a bastard.

All depends how bad it is really.

It can he “glazed” to restore the gloss finish.

Polish is generally bad in the bands of noobs.

You need to wax it with every wash to keep the impurities in the wax and off the paint.

Polish happens once or maybe twice a year and you MUST wax it immediately after which is where many people get it wrong.

Wax and Polish are two different things.

Autoglym might have a product. They've got cutting polish, polish, wax etc.
