Cleaning your Pc

So how often do you clean your Pc and what do you do exactly and how do you do it?

This includes keyboard, mouse and any other gear you have.

carry it out to the garage, couple of short air bursts from the compressor around the heatsink on the CPU and a nice long burst into the power supply, finishing off with an even spread of air around the inside.

Give it a good soak in some water for about a hour then u want to put it in the micro to dry it for about 20min make sure to put it on full... then in the oven @ 180c for 10 min remember to preheat the oven

I just clean mine with compressed air when it starts getting HOT or I got to a lan

I bought it from game a couple of months ago. and it can also blow out and works amazing.

I use the Torque airblower from Hyper Checkers for R149 and use that to blow out the dust.

I use a Makita blower like this one.
I use it all the time to clean up customers pc's that have sucked in dust - it does a great job, though if I were to buy now, I would buy a battery powered one, as you have to take the pc outside as the dust cloud is quite spectacular.

Be careful to hold the case and cpu fans still when blowing dust out to try and prevent any spikes being generated when blowing out dust, although never had any damage caused if they do spin.

Errr... why waste money on a blower/compressor!?
Just take it to the nearest garage and use the tyre pressure compressors there.
Works like a dream.

Blowers yes, compressors errrrrrrr no... Unless they have a water filter on them you're going to end up blowing misted water straight onto your mobo.

That's what I usually use. Relatively effective.

25mm paint brush and then blow it out.

Low-powered hand-held leaf blower works the best. Try not to use a hair dryer, because there are various ones out there that work well, but also statically charge the air particles even if you're using the cold setting.

As for the paint brush, make sure it's sable hair, not synthetic. Synthetic bristles create static electricity, whereas sable (horse, real horse hair) works without any issues. Also, for those of you with chassis that rust, I suggest coating any new ones you get with some rust-proofing, especially in the USB ports.

I have a micro vacuum cleaner kit which I bought around 15 years back. The connector fits onto a standard vacuum cleaner hose. Works like a dream for cleaning the internals - much better than a blower which just moves the dust to another point in the box.

Checkers Hyper do a smaller (Torq?) one for about R150 (last time I saw it) which would do the job.

Tip: Take your PC outside when you want to blow it out. Gets Messy.
