My car's metallic lacquer coat is chipping off everywhere. I drive a super old Ford Fiesta. What about would it cost me to have only the lacquer coat repaired? Would rather get a good idea of what I should be charged instead of someone screwing me over without asking here first. Also if someone can recommend a good and super cheap auto paint place in Pretoria/Centurion I'd much appreciate it.

Well I think they will need too flat the car again(get the rest of) and then spray another coat of clear

If it is metallic, a full respray or "blow-over" would be required, you cannot repair metallic.

If I understand correctly the clear-coat is chipping?

In that case you have to respray it as you cannot flat clear-coat off as you will damage the paint underneath.

Dunno what it is but I've seen these ford fiestas and the clear coat literally peels like someone that got a bad sunburn.

The clear coat will have to be completely removed and maybe the underlying paint might also require a extra coat after sanding.

Yup, it's exactly like that. It's as if the car has a bad skin disease.
