clients connecting on 3G to my mail server having problems

3G in the last 2 weeks have been blocking all access to any mail server except their own (like if you use Mweb you can only use mweb email servers etc)

This is ridiculous!

Clarify: are you referring to smtp or pop3 or imap or all of the above?

I'm guessing SMTP as this is common practice around the world and v3g did mumble something the other day about how it was being considered on the VC network.

Although this policy can initially be frustrating the logic is actually fairly good. It results in a situation where inter-server communication is kept on port 25 and then users submitting their mail for delivery can use authenticated MSA's on port 587.

This separation of the different mail delivery requirements means that receiving servers can more accurately determine the validity of incoming mail and this is a huge blow for spammers.

Now that you mention it - it would be a rather big change to make without warning us I don't use port 25 on any of the networks anymore so I'm kinda immune to any of the blocking that happens and thought I may have missed the big event
