My car's handbook suggests 22 as the best option and it does appear to work well but obviously if outside temperatures are very hot or cold that will change.
Why? The whole point of climate control is to keep the cabin at the set temperature. You shouldn't need to adjust it according to outside temps...
If it is 10 outside, you don't want it at 22... It will feel very hot as the difference is too big and you are probably dressed in winter clothes. You will turn it down to 18-ish.

They should change the name to "temperature control", because that's all it does. Climate Control, pffft. Make it snow in my car then you can call it Climate Control.
