Cape Town - Clive Derby-Lewis has died after a long battle with lung cancer.

He was released on medical parole last year after doctors found that he already had stage 4 cancer.

His wife Gaye confirmed the death of her 80-year-old husband in hospital to Maroela Media.

The former right-wing politician, who supplied the gun Janusz Walus used to kill SACP leader Chris Hani, was released on medical parole in June last year after obtaining a High Court order for his release.

Derby–Lewis was serving a life prison sentence.

So at least one person who got medical parole was actually terminal.

No matter the thoughts and feelings on this guy.

He is part of our history. May his family find peace in this time.

I am not particularly sad about him kicking the bucket.

However his case did bring out some nasty bias in a justice system that is meant to be politically neutral.

No arguments there, but I'd be lying if I said that I have even one iota of sympathy.

my mum is fighting lung cancer(and she is a non smoker), does anyone give a **** no, so why should we care about him

Not knowing much about this case, as it was mostly before my time, why was he convicted for supplying a weapon? Isn't that like trying to imprison gun store owners after they supply a gun to someone who then murders another person? Or was the supply of the gun totally "under the table"

First thought too, medical parole done right for a change. He obviously wasn't in Zuma's patronage network else he'd been playing golf too.
