No. He did supply the gun, but he was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder, as he organised the hit along with the eventual assassin.

Something like that, but that was what those who conspired to have him killed intended. It took a lot of scrambling about by the likes of Mandela to quell tempers. You can see how Clive unfortunately died without really revealing all the players in that conspiracy, he was just the selected fall guy.

Yes, but it would have been a fruitless exercise. Mandela come on TV for a special broadcast to sooth tempers. Knowing full well what would have become of his people if it descended into war. Glad we avoided it.

Communism would have turned South Africa into another African begging bowl. In a twisted way, we were saved by the greed of the ANC members who saw that they could be far richer in a market economy than a planned, centralised one.
