Remember the good old reliable Norton Ghost (DOS version) where you can ghost 1 drive to another drive?

Well, what program can do that these days?

I don't want to muddle with partitions, not resizing etc.

I want to take this 40GB IDE and dump it on this here 250GB SATA, take the 40GB out, plug the 250GB in it's place and everything will be fine.

Any ideas?

Acronis, Clonezilla. Though I haven't tried Clonezilla but it's free.

Always been using Norton ghost. You should try Ghost 2003.

Acronis True Image - not free, but works wonders... :)

I got it bundled with this, and didn't pay a cent...

Only limitation is that one of the drives (source or destination) must be a seagate.

Windows version available?

Ghost 2003 is a windows product. But for cloning the system drive it boots its own bundle of MS-DOS.

I've been using Ghost 2003 since ... 2003, and it's good. The only hassles are working with USB external drives - works great with some (I first got it bundled with one) - but I was unable to configure it to work with another one.

I agree. I am also still using the same and there seems to be nothing better yet!.

I know there's a Paragon Hard Drive Backup application that also clones hard drives. They make good software.

Miray Software - Hdclone
works beautifully although the freebie version is very slow, reliable 100% though!

Yeah I just used paragon in Dec, cloned my 160gig to a 500gig that I partitioned 300/200. Paragon did it all the partitioning and cloning. What impressed me was that it runs from the programs like a normal app then reboots the pc for you and continues after the reboot. Very impressed, worked a charm (did have one hiccup - cant remember what it was but i solved it easilly). I did this on VistaX86 SP1.

A +1 for HDDClone - just works - clones the whole drive including partitions and boot sector. Even asks you if you want to grow the last partition to fill up the rest of the drive...
