Clothes colour combo

I have no eye for colours and while this doesn't bother me in summer as I wear one layer, in winter I need to wear the right colour jacket for my shirt.

What would I wear with a green shirt - and what's a very neutral colour jacket to wear with most shirts?

You can't go wrong with black. Unless you're wearing brown, then consider carefully whether you want to wear black with it (it does sometimes work).

EDIT: Black never works with dark blue colours either.

I would say a denim (blue), your green shirt, a black pullover, and black shoes.
You could also go with a chocolate brown pull over or jacket.
If you want to look smart, then i would suggest a black suit.
