Dear All

I have a Google Apps for Business client, who is very interested in implementing a cloud based supply chain management system.

Specifically, he wants transparency between his company and a big supplier. The supplier is also a customer (the guy runs a chemical company who buys raw material, processes it into a higher value product, and sells it back to the supplier).

This has the potential to become multi-project, as the company in question wished to implement this with their other, bigger, suppliers upon success with this vertical supply chain management / ERP project.

Tie-in with Google Apps is great, but not necessary.

I am looking for a partner in this project, as this falls outside my scope of services offered, but I am looking to grow in this area as well.

Or; advice of which apps would work in this circumstance.

Thank you in advance for any advice offered :)

Not sure who offers what locally... But the idea that Telscum maybe the one here is scary... O.o

Does it have to be an existing SCMS? Or are you looking to create one from scratch?

In order to compete you need to develop a system that handles complex master data, handles cataloging of materials and services and integrates with SAP ERP and SRM (if you want the bigger clients).

That's quite an ambitious vision.

SAP... I just vomited in my mouth a little.

If your going custom, screw SAP, but get something that can hook to it :) Something lacy :)

No offence to all the SAP okes out there... but there is darkness on the horizon O.o

Check if OpenERP can perhaps cater for your needs.
I am actually busy trying it out for one sme who was looking for something similar.
We have opted to host it ourselves in an SA datacenter.

Thanks for the replies!

It is indeed ambitious, but not looking for something custom. Saying that possibly downgrades my MyBB street cred (if I had any), but I'm not a programmer. Looking for 'public' cloud based offering. The client also wants something simple, so the clerks can learn and use it easily.

Perhaps asking for too much!

Will have a look into Open ERP, Netsuite...

use what works, cred is irrelevant in the face of actual solutions.

Check out the SAP offerings.
Depending on your budget and anticipated growth, that's probably the best play.

Seems like there's no love for SAP here, but honestly the newer stuff is miles ahead of what it used to be. Pricing is coming down as well making it more competitive.

Here are some solutions they offer:

Check out the Business byDesign or Business One product suites depending on your organization size.
