Cloud Printing

Cloud based software is advancing rapidly... so why not include the printing option? It HAD to come.

At the moment the service does not allow printing to another user's printer. I would like to print to a printer connected to a different Google ID than my own (after some form of initial verification). I hope they implement this soon.

I really am trying to see the benefit in this. Isn't paperless just easier? Like email?

Not always - in certain environments you need a hard copy document.

The first time I encountered the "paperless" sales pitch was in about 1989. After implementation of this so-called "paperless" system we used more paper than ever before and the rain forests are disappearing at a more rapid rate.

Actually we do not use rain forests for paper and thanks to the high demand of paper, we are planting more trees to be harvested for paper than ever before.

Hehe, you could always do this...? At least, it's a simple concept in principle... The internet is basically just a big LAN anyway. I imagine it's already possible to just set up a printer remotely just using static IP/dynamic hostname?

Having used the “Under the hood” options tab to sign into their Google account
I guess that should read "Under the Bonnet",well at least on my version of Chrome it does
Monday morning nitpick-check;)

Tried it out , worked very well , I do agree with the ability to print using a different Google ID , in order for it to work in our office environment one of the PC's would have to share the printer with all Google ID's that want to use it

I need a hard copy on the other side of the world??? If that's the case, I email a soft copy and they can print it as they please, at least they can watch it print to make sure someone isn't reading confidential stuff or make sure the HP hasn't jammed AGAIN.
Internet printing FTL

Been using this service, pretty darn nifty - except for when sending docs to the wrong printer

What exactly is the logic/market drive behind this? It sort of sounds like they're trying to bring back fax... I've been working very hard to get people to stop using that archaic system and now they've made a come back by slapping the word "cloud" in front of it making it sounds all technotrendy.

I use tablet quite a lot, you have a pa back at the office and use companies that have antiquated red tape (ie. VOX, Telkom, Vodacom) who want a signed copy of just about everything
