Clutch

Now has 77 000km on the clock, already on second clutch.... Weak clutch, known issue :(

Shucks, that's pretty bĂŞd bru! Got my Astra back from its 191,000km service yesterday and it cost me R3500. It has seen years of heavy footed driving and its still on its first engine, gearbox and clutch. Maybe the Japs still needs to figure out how to build proper gearboxes and clutches :p

Hhehehehe, only clutches. Gearbox is a dream... In all fairness, the clutch wasn't really KAPOET yet. It was starting to show signs of wear and my maintenance plan is expiring soon, so wanted it done before I had to pay the R20 000 bill seeing as they now have to replace the flywheel aswell :)

Hectic hectic stuff.

My A3(over 200K) still has it's original clutch. When the time comes I will do it myself. Will probably cost me less than R4500. Agents want R12k plus I believe.

Got the car back on Saturday. Wasn't that bad. Clutch incl labour came to R7000 and they also replaced the flywheel. This added anouther R4800 to the bill. In total for clutch and flywheel was R14900

Still, enough for me to stay far, far away from a Type R :P

Coincidentally I was watching some old Top Gear episodes from the 90's this weekend and in one of them Tiff Needell reviews the NSX. At the start of the review he pointed out that the reason why he was doing the road test in a left hand drive version was that the right hand drive model had a wrecked clutch after only 1000 miles with other motor journalist. He did add that this is not something he would expect from a Japanese car.

Well, maybe its just a coincidence, I mean, that was 22 years ago.

Lol, careful now! Thats what i said about my Corsa 1.6iS '98 and at 200032kms my engine went kaboom and from then on it was a monthly game of "guess whats just fscked out now..." :(

Still got mad love for Opel, but after 200k things do seem to go downhill...

Replaced the clutch (Sachs) on my Focus about 4 months ago. The parts cost me about 2.5k-3k. I was lucky my friend is a mech that mostly does Ford. He charged me R500:p. I ended up giving him an extra R100 and offered to take him to the pub for some booze, but he doesn't drink :erm:.

Speaking of Type R's I saw a awesome looking one this morning in Randburg, all black with black vinyl covering. Looked epic.
