Looks like the Game of the Year edition is ver 1.6, that's if the readme file is to be believed.

When you go into multiplayer the Version is also there.(right side bottom)

ftp://ftp.games.saix.net/call_of_duty_4/patches/
You will find the patches you need there.

Will give you all the info you will need to start playing online.

You can also just add the ip to your fav.

Also plz when you go into the game set your rate to 15000 in the conslol with the command :/rate 15000"
Make sure to update PB a few times.

Does the Multiplayer and Single player update separately? After I ran the the 1.6-1.7 update it still shows version 4.xx in the multiplayer screen.

EDIT: After running a second time it shows 1.7 so I think that's fine.

Managed to play a quick MP Deathmatch and it's insane. Managed to kill 3 or 4 people. :)

They are the same just that multiplayer shows you the version.

Don't play full server when you start. Check for servers with about 12-17 players on it.

I just clicked on the server with the lowest ping. Was extremely fun. Too bad Axxess internet access seems to be messed up right now, so I can't play further. Definitely gonna have many sleepless nights!

A cool also play there now and again but seems I get a lot of dc when playing on there servers(with axxess local). So mostly on the hardcore 1/2 and TDM server from siax

Wow. Just finished playing for the day. I sucked big time, but at least had some kills.

174 kills vs 415 deaths. That being said I was up against level 55 guys.

Things get extremely hectic on a relatively full server. You can see a storm of bullets flying everywhere. Highly recommended for everyone!

BTW: My profile name is also Crusader

I'd like to say thank you to everyone that posted here. I'm busy downloading the patches now - didn't quite expect it to be 300Meg :)

Hopefully I'll get to play on Sunday or next week sometime.

Does anybody know why SAIX got so many servers but most are empty?

I have about four servers from saix and that actually got any activivty on the rest is empty?

COD4 has evolved and players have moved on from certain gametypes.

SGS admins and server hosts aren't around to actually stay in touch with playres and the community and that is why they have so many wasted servers. Change some of those Sabo and stock SD servers to Promod TDM or Promod SD servers, they would fill up instantly.

Get exactly what the CVar is and then post here, and I can help you with what to change in the console.

It might be something to do with rates, so try this command in the console
/rate 15000

If you have connected to a promod server it sets your rate to 25000 so you need to lower it in order to stay on the normal server. In the event it is a "lodscale" command then just post here or check this FAQ and you might come right.

A lot of players have also moved onto Cod Waw but I see that some nights 2 siax and 2 Igame servers are full. And IS servers are always empty.

Actually to be very very honest with you, COD4 is far larger than CODWaW. Don't get me wrong CODWaW is big and the servers are full, but there are far fewer servers and far fewer players on WaW each night than COD4. Check the SGS live server listing to confirm that.
