me and my housemate both got COD 5, bought it for the co-op feature but everytime we try to play co-op, it says on his machine that " the cd-key is already in use by another computer "

i bought mine before he bought his, and we installed my copy on his pc to see what it looks like. then, we uninstalled it when he got his copy, installed his copy and all of the sudden we get this problem... we went to the registry folder , but you cant change the cd-key there.. we changed the cd-key in the game aswell, nothing helped...any advice on this matter would be appreciated

Does cod5 not register his username with the cd-key? Maybe try deleting his account then changing his to the new one and making a new account withnit...

both copies were bought @ look & listen...will try deleting his account... but when he installed the game, he did use his own username... :-/

When you installed it on his machine with your copy or his? Because AFAIK you can have multiple usernames, but they will be linked to that cd-key its created on. Uninstall the game and remove save games profile etc. Then re-install the game with the necessary cd-keys and usernames. Do his on both machines. If this does not work then i guess you could try format but i dont see how it would store so heavily in the registry.

COD 4 and 5 are very sensitive, my cod5 would not work cause my sound setting was set at 96000 apposed to 48000 and my cod4 wouldn't work cause i enabled my UAC.

If you using vista disabled UAC for COD

LoneWolf, you online when trying co-op or just trying on lan?
I recall having a similar problem when trying lan. You need to download lan fix for CoD5 (just an .exe that you run instead of the usual one), that should sort the issue. Unlike with multiplayer, CoD5 co-op tries to connect to authentication server when on lan.
