Coffin assault trial

Seriously, though, what is the actual evidence of this being racially motivated? Did they use racial terms in the YouTube clip (I haven't seen it)?

We have been told that in brutal farm attacks, home invasions, etc where the perpetrators were black and the victims white, there is no racial motivation as there is no evidence specifically indicating that, so if in this case there is no evidence specifically indicating anything other than a distasteful attempt at vigilante justice, why the opposite assumption? Unless, of course, there is obvious derogatory language in the clip?

It's racist because the perps are white and the victim is not. Duh. All the evidence necessary to deem a case racially motivated.

Seems to be how it works, except the double standard is starting to become glaring, i.e. when families get tied up, tortured by hot irons, kids drowned in boiling water and elderly women stabbed to death with garden forks, that must also be racist whenever the victims happen to be white and the perps not. Except they tell us that's different, somehow.

The champ said it best, you are a minority therefore you have less rights, that's mos how democracy works..

what freakin ever. if undertaker was there he would tombstoned everyone into and onto the coffin AND kicked everyones asses at the royal rumble outside the courts afterwards.

I think he meant there's a minority of people who think that. Not that "you people" are a minority. But I stand to be corrected so perhaps he can clear it up.

I find the irony funny :D :D

"Come on, how do we know these guys were racist for shoving a black guy in a coffin?"
"You guys are in a minority"
"What did you just call me!?!?!" :D :D

Edit: /Not singling anyone out, just the general tone of the thread :p

Of course, I was replying to Slootvreeter and Vrotappel in particular who seem to be sympathing with these lowlifes even going as far as saying the magistrate is racist because he denied them bail, if one followed the thread it would be easy to understand that as you so easily picked it up.

Unless of course if i was wrong and the sympathizers are a majority, but i only counted two....

That's what I thought. It was pretty clear but some people here are perpetual victims. And by "some people" I mean some people and not a certain minority

I'm not sympathizing :erm: Just surprised at the outrage, and why this is suddenly a racial thing. Can't get that into your head. Unlike you and Ngwe32, I'm not acting like I'm a victim of some offense.

It doesn't matter if the majority thinks that these guys are guilty. I also think they are guilty of at least assault (say it was racially motivated if you must). There is certain law that state when people are eligible for bail and everyone should get a fair trail. The judge shouldn't at this stage deny bail because he believes they are guilty that's not how our justice system works.

Coffin assault duo case postponed

Middelburg – The case against two men who allegedly forced Victor Mlotshwa into a coffin and threatened to pour petrol on him has been transferred to the Middelburg Regional Court.

Theo Jackson and Willem Oosthuizen appeared briefly in court on Wednesday where their case was postponed.

Prosecutor Robert Molokoane requested that the matter be postponed until March 23 for trial.

He said the State's investigation was complete.

During their last appearance in 2016, Jackson and Oosthuizen told the court they committed the act because they merely wanted to teach Mlotshwa a lesson.

In both their affidavits they admitted that their actions were "negligible" and they did not mean any harm.

Jackson and Oosthuizen had previously abandoned their bail bid, however, they later requested the court to grant them bail and said they would make R5 000 available.

They assured the court that they would not interfere with witnesses or influence Mlotshwa.

Charges of kidnapping, assault

During their two-day bail application proceedings, the court heard that Mlotshwa was kicked all over his body and his hands were tied with a cable.

Investigating Officer Detective Constable Dimakatso Bahula told the court that on August 17, Mlotshwa left his place of residence and noticed two Land Cruisers following him.

Bahula said the bakkies stopped and the two men assaulted Mlotshwa and kicked him without any explanation.

They are facing charges of kidnapping and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

Their application for bail was denied.

The alleged assault of Mlotshwa took place at the JM de Beer Boerdery, next to the Komati power station in Mpumalanga.

In a 20-second video of the incident, which was posted on YouTube on November 7, one man, speaking in Afrikaans, forces Mlotshwa into a coffin and threatens to pour petrol on him.
