Either way, do you agree that they received such horrendous sentences? Do you think this was applied logically given the facts of the case? There is no question this is a political agenda and the judge was swayed by it. I agree, criminals all deserve what they are due. But 14 years in prison for putting someone in a coffin and threatening to kill them? Come now...

Sure, penalise them. But do it in line with the law and apply it correctly and fairly. A 5 year suspended sentence is a perfect punishment coupled with time already served (iirc they were denied bail) No one got hurt. Sure the guy might have been emotionally scarred but he can get compensation for that via a civil suit. 11 and 14 years is just sickening no matter the perpetrators black/white/green

Most of your posts are well thought out and (mostly) seem to be relatively reasonable, didn't really expect you to engage with unnecessary self pitying post such as that.

And that sentence is over the top. But they recorded themselves committing a criminal act. They are no better then someone breaking into your house and putting that on facebook live while doing it. If they get caught afterwards (even if they didn't steal anything), they deserve zero sympathy. They choose to conduct themselves they way they did, they have to live with the consequences.

Which I agree with in all manners of speaking. The point and the reason I agreed with him was it was clear that it was a racially driven agenda which led to that sentence. Sure they are retarded for filming themselves. Sure they threatened, kidnapped and what not too. But do you honestly think 11 and 14 years is justice here? That is beyond reason...

You are most probably right with that, but unfortunately if you act illegally (and dumb) you have to live with the consequences of your actions. And seeing how racially sensitive people in this country are (from both sides) at the moment, they should have known better. Beat the idiots up by all means and then let them go, but filming yourself doing something as stupid as they did? Sorry, no sympathy here.

The law is the law though. So we penalise people harshly and incorrectly now because of people going to burn shyte down :confused:

Coffin assault duo in prison's sick bay


Farm employees Theo Jackson and Willem Oosthuizen‚ who were found guilty of assaulting Victor Mlotshwa and forcing him into a coffin‚ are yet to set foot in a prison cell.

The pair have been kept in the sick bay of the Witbank Correctional Services facility since their sentencing two weeks ago‚ Oosthuizen's attorney‚ Marius Coertze‚ confirmed on Tuesday.

He said this was because of errors in court papers signed off by Judge Segopotje Mphahlele.

"A strange thing happened. When the warrants were signed by the judge‚ they indicated that the two were to serve a time period of 29 years and 23 years‚" said Coertze.

The pair however‚ were sentenced to 11 and 14 years.

Mphahlele's error would have resulted in them being placed in a maximum facility at the Witbank Correctional Services‚ where criminals serving life sentences are kept.

"They would have been in there with the wrong crowd‚" Coertze said.

"But prison authorities noticed the (error) and they decided to keep them in the sick bay instead‚" he added.

That's on average Mandela periods, and he was a real terrorist that killed people..

Also, seems we are so not equal that special sentences have to be reserved for whites..
