Lets use the wisdom of the crowds here: What do people think the sentence should be:
I honestly think between 5-10 years, leaning to 10 years for being stupid enough to film it and drag South Africa into another racial conflict.

3-6 years with time spent in holding taken into account.

Well most criminals are stupid, that's why they get caught.

I would have given a 5 year suspended sentence.

Are we are now going to jail everyone who threatens someone ?

5year suspended sentence with 1 year community service for the 2 "farmers".
5year suspended sentence with 1 year community service for the "victim"

Sentence the victim for a crime he wasn't charged with.

Public opinion swayed this judge. Let them appeal. I'm surprised they're not appealing the attempted murder conviction at least, I'd think they would do that along with the sentence.

Yip the law in SA is mostly on the criminals side and so another criminal walks free, even for the lesser crime of trespassing.

I hope they get off their charges once someone non racist and with an earned title of being Judge sits on this and then they must charge the "victim"

The farmers did not lay any charges against Mlotshwa, not even trespassing, no surprises that he is walking free.

All that I heard was that they said he should leave otherwise they will shoot. I don't see them threatening him into the coffin using guns...

Look assault is assault but where does the attempted murder come in?

Yeah that charge is frikken crazy. The state could not prove it yet they were still found guilty. Any bloody competent judge or lawyer can see that attempted murder doesn't hold up.

Just saw their lawyer on eNCA arguing for leave to appeal and he basically laid before the judge how no other similar crime is sentenced as harshly as this and it's clear that the public outcry swayed her. Yet she still denied leave to appeal. Appalling really.

Be very afraid if you have to end up in court.

By this yardstick those government officials responsible for the deaths of 141 vulnerable and in many cases helpless victims should get multiple life sentences and never see daylight again.

But not one of them will even see the inside of a court.

No, they won't because they are black. Had they been white, the criminal trial would have been completed by now and they would all have been jailed.
