Cold callers to get the cold shoulder

I hate the guys that want to pawn of new contracts even more! Best advice? Say - "Oh wow, that is fantastic! And to think none of the other companies wanted to give me a contract as I am unemployed and blacklisted!"

No,no, no! They must have an opt-in register. It should be illegal for them to contact you unless you expressly give them permission to do so. That would solve all these problems.

Thats what I was hoping for when I hoped this article :(

It's ludicrous to give your full details to help build some database NOT TO BE CONTACTED.:wtf: Who gave them permission to contact you in the first place? Let them create a data base of people who want to be contacted.

What I hate most is the lame answers they give you when you ask where they got your number.

Its so they can sell this database at a later stage ;)

I just use iBlacklist - used to get dozens every month now almost none. As they arrive iBlacklist just zaps them for me :)

the worst part is when they say opt out sms STOP to xyz and then you do it and you still get them.

Do what I do, tell them to hang on for a few seconds while I find a pen and then hang the phone up 30 minutes later if they haven't given up.

SMS STOP to opt-out

BS They dont stop... Really annoying!

This is completely moronic, the equivalent of putting your details and email address on a huge do not spam list and then let that list float around on the internet.

To top off the stupidity of this, this information isn't going to be hard to get, because how else will they supposedly to know if they can contact you. This is going to be as close as you can get to a giant free list of people to spam along with their details. Brilliant. If it has enough details it could also be the first stop for identity theft.

To complete the circle of stupidity if this list isn't free (only the honest will pay for it while the dishonest will use it as an easy to get spam list) or easy to get it will just take 1 single employee who's getting fired or needs a bit of extra cash and they can go sell it to whoever they like on the side.

What chimp thought up this nonsense.

Replacing toilet paper with cheese graters is a better idea than this. I dread to think how many work hours thus money went down the drain on this crap.

call it moronic...it worked for me (and everyone else I gave it to)

I sit and laugh at all my colleagues who get numerous unsolicited calls daily.

Ill miss the entertainment I get from cold calls. When they call, put them on speakerphone and get on with work. When you get asked a q after 5 mins, tell them to start from the beginning cos the line is bad. Bet your colleagues for the number of times you can do that before the hang up. Its fun.
