It seems that this story will carry on until the end of the season. Cesc has always been linked to Barcelona every season but this season it would seem that the move could possiblly be made a reality.

Rumours of Cesc having a verbal agreement has surfaced today, but hours later Barca released this.

“Given the exceptional repercussions created by the stories that have appeared in different media with respect to an agreement with Arsenal FC player Cesc Fàbregas, FCB flatly denies that there have been any negotiations or agreements with the player.

Cesc is said to be offered a bumper new contract but word has it, he doesnt want to sign. Which can only mean one thing. Surely that would be the most evident give away that he wants to leave.

Wenger had this to say on the matter.

Speaking to Arsenal’s official website Wenger said he is confident Fabregas is commited to Arsenal but admitted that anything can happen in the future.

I personally think Cesc will come in the Summer. This saga has all the signs of possible move. Its not the first time a player commits verbally with a club and then hours later the club releases a statement saying it is untrue. The statement is probably directed at FIFA in order for the club not to be blamed for ''tapping up'' the player.


I know this is a sensitive issue for Arsenal supporters, but they always knew it was inevitable that he will go home.

I agree, it will run till barca are done with their elections, and it will hit full steam during WC time when fabregas is with spain, but personally i dont think he's moving for another season or two at minimum

It is going to be CRAZY for him at the World Cup if he doesnt sign the Arsenal contract.

This is a political move and both candidates see Cesc as a perfect way to win over the supporters.

Personally I think it'd be a stupid move for Barca to buy him now, he is still learning, at Barca he will sit on the bench, atleast at Arsenal he plays every game(better for Barca, Arsenal, and Cesc) getting experience, so by the time Xavi retires, Cesc will be in his prime, Ramsey and Merida will be up to speed for Arsenal, and Cesc can slot right in at Barca, who pay 50-60m for him and everyones happy

I doubt they will pay 50 - 60 million. They will offer 40 million, the club is pretty strict on buying back players that came from La Masia.

If he were to move, can u imagine the midfield if he plays alongside Xavi and Iniesta. Thats almost the entire Spanish midfield. Him playing with Messi will be something else. Maybe Pep has a plan that will see Cesc play alot of games.

It will be crazy for him and Spain if he doesnt renew his contract. The journos at the World Cup will make this one of the biggest saga's of the summer. For everybodys sake i hope he signs either the Arsenal or Barca contract before the WC.

I never read the article. Saw it on Sky at 6pm.

Pundit was asked out of 10, how much does he rate Cesc will move.

He answered 8 and a half.

That says they are pretty damn convinced he will move.

Interesting to note.

Xavi has came out and said that Cesc will be a Barca player soon and he cannot wait to play with him in midfield.

Xavi doesnt normally get much wrong when he predicts things. When there was a big media circus about Puyol not renewing his contract, Xavi predicted him to stay - days later he renewd his contract.

When there was an even BIGGER circus around Pep not renewing, Xavi said that he will renew in a few weeks. Thats exactly what happened.

When asked about a move for Robinho, he said Robinho wont fit into Barca. The move was cancelled a few weeks later and it was later revealed that Xavi and Puyol didnt want Robinho in the team and they made that clear to Pep

Somehow, i dont think Xavi is wrong about Cesc.
