Comet ISON to be visible late 2013

The interview was focused on ison though to a degree so i was on topic but thank you for defusing the issue seriously :D.

call me crazy, wait i am crazy but first the sun is blocking ison, now the moon. Does anyone get the feeling ison is hoax or is it just me?

You know ison was suppose to visible in 2012?

No i don't mean a fake as such, i just mean blowing it out proportion. The moon was not a hoax, seriously makes people think i believe the moon was faked and that ison is a UFA but again he contributed nothing but focusing on me i don't mind though :D. My first stalker is always a fun experience. i know he gets more worked up than me and i don't even try work him up. It is interesting that a simple interview has seriously freaking the fk out :D. Porch had a decent post and i pmed him and told him to go bos but asked him for once just to listen and then go nuts on me, that is fair and he was right i was out of control and much respect for the way he doesn't chase me around like a certain stalker :D and tries to help me see sense. That is the way i am trying to operate because i know okes like porch are not spiteful and out to hunt me down whenever they can regardless if i come across crazy.

I can handle being ripped apart by porch because i needed it but we somehow managed to get along fine afterwards, sometimes i just need an intelligent person to get me back on track, seriously you are not that candidate brother. I try my best to listen to people when they have something intelligent to say again seriously you are in the back of the room on that one. Sorry pal but none of your posts have anything but me as the focal point. Yet i barely get in your face unless forced. i have no issues with anyone even seriously if he could contribute more than killadoob in posts.

I just mean i am beginning to think ison is over hyped by nasa and all the conspiracy people but i could mistaken, time will tell i guess. We get next to no updates mainstream now that could be because they know the impending doom or they don't have enough valid info to even be worried about because they know it's nothing to worry about.

O sorry to talk about seriously but why is his pm disabled? me and porch sorted out a very funny issue over pm and without it the seriously big issue we faced could not have been resolved and porch was man enough to pm me which lead to us laughing hard at the seriously bad situation :p but who else has pms disabled and why?

I think if i get tuned i have every right to tune back yet it seems only my tunes get heard and talked about, why is that when i was having a perfectly good conversation, got tuned by seriously and then tuned him. You then ignore seriously and point me out. I can live it but it seems somewhat unfair to me, i was chilled chatting, making my points and i wasn't tuning people, then i get tuned by seriously and tune back you single me out.

See i don't mind it though but explain why the people who tune me never get treated like i do? Well OK folks I took some time and listened to a bit of this interview (while doing other things good grief I wasn't going to fully commit my time to this garbage).

These people are ignorant loons.

Basically this idiot, before he bought the farm, was convinced that Earth was passing through the galactic plane of the Milky Way galaxy around 2012 give or take 10 years. He further claims that the crossing of the galactic plane occurs every 10 000 years or so and that it causes the elimination of extremely advanced ancient human civilisations in cycles (this is where this stupid Atlantis garbage probably comes in).

Firstly, we cross the galactic plane every 30 million years or so, not every 10 000.

Secondly, we are pretty far away from the galactic plane. While it is difficult to estimate, the biggest estimate I was able to find was a little over 100 light years away. Apparently we aren't going to cross that plane for another few million years at least.

Then of course they have all this stupid schit about black holes spreading out as flat ribbons along the galactic plane (they spin so fast they spread out like a gravitational cosmic LPs :rolleyes:).

In reality the galactic plane is not all that different from the area our solar system is sitting in at the moment. There are no especially high concentrations of black holes ready to tear us apart. For goodness sake killa check what these people claim :(.

It's not three spaceships. It's a composite of three individual pictures of the comet coma. And in each one it's facing a different direction because the comet is spinning.

Well ison isn't acting like a dirty snowball yet, all we can do is hope nasa are legit and apart from deep impact dying they have been fairly reliable. Even if we saw something huge coming to hit earth what we gonna do? Unless we have some new weapon to change it's course there isn't a thing nasa can do. Note i have not said ison will hit earth because it won't.

If ison does make it, the tail is the issue not the comet but again we really won't know anything until later this month. Nasa have a predicted path but i am sure they know it could be altered, no stop thinking altered towards earth. Nasa also don't know if it will pick up speed and if it does i doubt they know how much speed, i have read double what it currently is but that is a guess obviously.

All we can do is wait for ison to disappear this month. Sun ate it :D. It could disappear as if it never existed. Then hubble can go back to finding far away galaxies. Deep impact can find life again and we all have a safe happy holiday in december.

Even if we accept the conspiracy theorists on the claim that only a 2 degree shift in trajectory is required for it to hit earth (which has not come from any reputable source whatsoever), here is the mathematics involved for the comet to achieve said shift (from the science forums):

Even if one accepts that it would only take a 2° change in trajectory, this change would have to take place at perihelion. Perihelion for comet Ison is 1.86 million km at which point it will be moving at a speed of 378717 m/s.

To deflect it by 2° would require a delta v of 13217 m/s.

The highest exhaust velocities achieved by steam rockets specifically designed to be efficient as possible is 1911 m/s.

So, assuming perfect conditions, we can use the rocket equation to determine just how much of the comet would have to be converted to steam and ejected in order to generate the needed delta v.


That equation is

Ve is the steam exhaust speed.

This gives an answer of M/m = 1008

Meaning that Comet Ison would have to convert ~99.9% of it mass to steam in order to deflect the remaining 0.1% the required 2°.

Keep in mind, that this assumes a properly designed pressure chamber and nozzle. In the case of a comet, such would have be formed from the comet substance itself, which means the comet would break up and the rocket action would cease after it had only generated a small fraction of the needed delta v.

Considering how easy it was to debunk this part of the argument, I calling bogus on the idea that this claim originated from an actual scientific institution.

I think the angle though dj means it cannot hit earth, it is the tail and we don't know what rubbish is in the tail assuming ison does make it.

It's tail is long. Also it is shedding so much dust, what the dust is i don't know and whether it can impact our planet i dunno.

Another thing that is concerning me is they keep saying it will be visible to the naked eyes, sept, oct, nov, dec now possibly jan.

Guys tell me something, how do they know this is comet ison's first trip? Noob question i know but if it's from the oort cloud how do they know it's a virgin considering they picked up far from the so called place of origin, maths?
