Comic Con SA: ticket prices and details

I suggest boycotting this. It is dodgy as all hell. I really want to go to a proper Comic Con and this is NOT it. Who the hell is this organizer and what the hell is '"It's a House"??? Capacity 150????

Screw that, something is not right with this picture.

Damn right if it was official I would be there. However not going to this!

Yep... This guy sums up exactly how I feel and more:

Jeremy thanks for the update. I have to say though, that my desire for a proper comic con in SA is matched only by my incredibly deep doubt about what exactly is being planned by this no-name brand organizing group and their must-not-be-divulged single-webpage-with-no-content sponsors. There is just so much that smells fishy to me here. And just to keep the haters at bay, I'm going to list my concerns here:

1. Who the hell is this organizer Tlou Ramatlhodi? What is his events organizing pedigree, if any? What is his involvement in the geek scene, if any? Why has nobody ever heard of this guy?
2. Tickets are R150 each..... for what, exactly? To get us through the door of a shifty nightclub of some kind? This was his opportunity to tell us what this event is all about, and he failed miserably. Evidently, his primary goal here is the money at the door, not anything else.
3. In Greenpoint, of all places? Anyone in the geek scene in Cape Town knows that the heart of the scene is spread between Rondebosch and Belville (in b4 boerewors curtain).
4. The event has been 'In the works since 2012'. That means nothing. He might've woken up on 31 December 2012 with this quick buck making scheme. 'Since 2012' means nothing. If anything, at least lie to us and give us an earlier date so that this all sounds a bit more convincing. I mean, +/- 6 months of organization? I hope he's not surprised that everyone considers this a joke.
5. He could not tell us more about who's behind this because 'we have to protect our clients'? WTF? That right there is the biggest red flag for me. Firstly, anyone legitimately involved with legitimate high-profile events would be chomping at the bit to publicize their involvement with it. Secondly, what, exactly, is he trying to 'protect'? Is this event so dodgy that the people behind it would rather not be publicly named in fear of all kinds of reprisals? In my opinion, that answer is a red herring to divert attention away from the fact that in reality, they don't have any bloody clients. If he did, they'd be happy to publicly associate themselves with this event.
6. 'Including international artists'. I see a lot of so-called 'international artists' at African clubs and kwaito concerts. Someone from Zimbabwe or Nigeria is technically 'international'. So come on Tlou, give us some actual names or bugger off because until then, as far as I'm concerned, he's pulling the wool over everyone's eyes.
7. The website. Or shall I say, two web pages (one comic con, one the sponsor) with no information about anything on either page. That alone is enough to put me off this entire joke of a venture.
8. Pointless flowery language. "Facilitate this discourse" and other needlessly big words only make you look like a politician and remind the rest of us that you are probably no better than one too. These guys have already mastered the art of saying something whilst actually saying nothing - this is the worst possible start to this entire shamble.
9. 'It's a house' venue. Knowing that area, it probably is just a house. Get a real venue or stop wasting our time.
10. I wish I had a tenth point. Give Tlou some time, I'm sure he'll give me another 100 points to rant about before the week is done.

TL;DR: Mr Nobody will never be taken seriously until he starts taking the event seriously. We are not convinced.

*Edit*: It literally is just a house: https://www.facebook.com/itsah...
