You need to go www.myus.com and import from there, they do charge 10% if you use a credit card though.
Only certain things will be cheaper, cpu's, mobo's, mem etc i find is not cheaper to bring in this way, well slightly cheaper but for 200 bucks really not worth it. When i brought my ssd in it cost 3.5k which was amazing considering ssd's cost like 10k here

Doesn't NewEgg require proof of address within the US and whatnot as well, or does MyUS handle that?

MYUS does everything, you give the link and pay them and they sort out everything. They order it and mostly newegg has free delivery, so you pay myus's charge of 10% and they sort out everything for you. Plus they charge like 40 dollars for a 1kg for courier which is rather high. That is why i say only certain things make sense to import.
I did have to send the front of my credit card and the back but i blanked out the ccv number. Then it was fine. MYUS do not like large payments done via credit without this. The cheapest way is to do a money transfer i think then they only charge 5%. It took 5 days to my ssd drive as well. Had a slight problem with customs not releasing it but a quick phone call to them it was a once off import sorted that.

My biggest issue with importing hardware is, what happens if and when it conks out? Now you must ship it back at your cost? Not worth it. What I do find to work out cheap though, is ordering 2nd books, novels etc, from www.thriftbooks.com

Well that is why i said it depends on how much you are saving. I could not find a ssd drive for under 8k ex vat in this country i imported one for 3.5k. Now if you are going to save 200 or 300 bucks it is not worth importing.
True killadoob. I used to buy lots of stuff from UK & US a few years back. I usually made sure they were not ever a certain weight & value so i wouldnt have much trouble with customs etc...
Back then stuff was much more expensive locally than abroad, i used to actually save about 40% on the price.
