(okay not commie, thats clickbait. mixed market economy with heavy socialist undertones)
So I have been living in Vietnam for the last month and I purchased 20GB of data on an esim when I got here. I used that data every day, browsing the usual websites and I noticed my data was hardly moving. I thought they perhaps gave me a bugged esim with some type of unlimited data plan but nope. Thats how it works here.
Certain services such as Youtube/Google, Tiktok, Meta services and a whole lot of other big popular websites are zero rated for data. Meaning, that use of these services is not allowed to count towards you cap. So they are all basically free! I couldnt believe it.
There are other things Vietnam government got the providers to do differently. For instance, a Youtube add has to have the skip function available after 3 seconds. And Google complies!
Why dont we have these epic things from our government? Dont tell me is a cost issue because if Vietnam providers can do it, so can we.
Its amazing what your government can get done if its working for the people and not special interest lobby groups buying out ICASA.
