Anybody else using Comodo Firewall?

I really like it but sometimes it irritates me. Asking me to verify every little thing the installer/program is doing.
Can I set it to be a little less paranoid but still protect me.
Which settings do you use?

Not wanting to open another thread ------------>> Another security related Q.

I cannot open my Windows Defender.
It is on automatic start-up but does not initialize. When I go to Control Panel to manually start it, it gives me a error message about something that stopped the process from being initialized and that I should start it manually or restart my PC.
I scanned my PC with 3 different anti-spyware programs and also ran Windows Malicious Removal in safe mode to ensure it is clean.

Anybody else ever experience this or something similar?

I am using it Comodo. You can turn off that application security, so that it just does the firewall job.

Where will I change these settings?
Right click on the tray icon? Or open the main window?

Will this then stop asking me if I should Allow/Block xxxxx program or installer to change a protected registry..... blah blah blah.

I'm at work ATM, so can't help you ATM. Will check when I get home.

Defence + Security Level at: Clean PC Mode
Firewall Security Level: Safe Mode

You can also reduce the number of alerts.

I run both of the above in Safe Mode and have OK'ed all the apps (and told Comodo to remember). Rather safe then sorry, it doesn't bother you again unless you update the program.

I'm also using Comodo but it does sometimes bug the ****e out of me so I am considering something else. I tried to make custom firewall policies that would do mac filtering but it doesn't work right (with sygate this was very easy).
To disable the defense & security:
Right click the comodo icon > Defense + security level > disabled

same, no idea how to stop it from alerting every little application action, but seems to keep my PC safe enough :D

Right click the comodo icon > Defense + security level > disabled

That's the problem. I do not really want to disable any security features.
I just want it to do everything by it self and not ask me every 10 minutes about something.

I have now set the settings as PeterCH has suggested and will report back on that.

One thing that really irritates me is when I am out and using my Laptop. Sometimes when I try to scroll with the touchpad's scrollbar it freezes the cursor and Comodo asks if the Touchpad is a safe application and if it should be allowed to be used in Firefox or whatever program I am using.
I then have to take my USB mouse out of the bag, plug it in and click on allow.

Grrrr.....

It's a safety feature. You can disable it by adding the program as a trusted vendor, program must be signed though.

You said "it doesn't bother you again unless you update the program". I said that it is very annoying ;)

I used it.. but they have shunted the AV and the Firewall together. It made my computer blue screen all the time after a couple of weeks. It was a resource hog.. and the AV was USELESS. I put an open share onto the internet, and within an hour there were about 20 virus files in there... and Comodo didnt pick them up as virus`s! Avast went bananas.

I don't have the av just the firewall and security thing. Wasn't there a option to leave the av out of the install?

Not that I saw.. but at the time I thought I would give the AV a try .. cause I would prefer one solution that dealt with everything instead of two solutions.

So I gave it a try.. as I said.. the AV failed big time.. the firewall caused some kinda network driver conflict and I was blue screening.

I uninstalled it and I no longer blue screened. I really wish it had worked cause I want a decent light firewall that logs nicely.

The only conflict I have seen with Comodo firewall is when I loaded K9 content filter which I had to remove...
