Hi Chaps :)

Can you guys please comment on the above. Has anyone tried this free combo and what are your thoughts (got it in my dload q @ the mo and anxious to try it out).

I've used Avast forever and I did try the Comodo firewall previously.

Thank you :)

Comodo had an excellent set of individual products. They now have an excellent integrated product.

The only objection I have to them is that their direction is total integration (all or nothing ... no user choice in what you download) and they have no idea of incremental updates (every program update is 70MB+ ... it doubles with every version because they add in new products) or being able to download AV updates once and apply them to all the PCs in the house. I've posted on their forums and frankly they simply don't understand bandwidth limitations.

I've been using the firewall app for 2 years and I'm mostly happy with it. I haven't even smelt an infection or intrusion since. The warnings can be a bit intrusive or irritating, but for the most part I've become accustomed to those. I rate it 7/10

I was quite disappointed when I went to download the new version.

I run Comodo Firewall + Avast, I don't want to download a combo program and then have to disable to antivirus.

I call bloatware on this one.... (although I am still using it).

also loaded avast. i think i have 2 AV's running at the mo!

/shifty

Firewall is one of the best on the market (and it's free).
The AV is substandard and misses viruses other packages pick up.

I loved the power of Comodo Firewall when I was running XP, especially the HIPS module picking up suspicious activity. However, since moving to Vista, I no longer make use of it, since I find Vista with UAC on offers similar levels of protection without all the questions.

Never used their anti-virus, so can't comment.

The HIPS and FW in Comodo is less intrusive than Vista's UAC, IMO. Once you train it that is, it leaves you alone, unless the program has changed OR you're running a new program.
