Hello guys. Do any of you know or deal with companies that does telemetry products and development? For example, those little thingy magiggies that goes into a machine and does monitoring and sends updates etc if it should go faulty blah blah blah.

I am getting requests for this and not sure where to refer the people to.

VD, does Vodacom perhaps have a official partner for this?

Kind Regards:

ust spoke to two people @ mix telematics, and they definately only do vehicle tracking and fleet management! urg!!!!

Anyone else have any ideas?

So what exactly are you looking for? Can you give us a slightly more detailed description?

Ok, this is what the client emailed to me, and I am not sure, but this sounds like it might be solved via a telemetry product. I am not aware of any way to do what she wants with existing Vodacom stand alone products.

Just a question not sure if you can help or not?

Do you know of a system where by a company can get an SMS line that when a person SMS’s that number (like a hot line) that the particular SMS gets sent to several people .

For example we would like to get a Cell number that we can put on our machines so that when they breakdown the people on the site can just SMS that number to say it has a breakdown, and then that SMS can be sent to DEON, TIM, JUSTIN, JOHANN, DENIS and office.

Do you know if this is possible or not?

Thanks

Debbie

I have mailed a contact of mine, will see if he comes back with something. I also recall seeing a brochure floating around the office for monitoring Fridges and other devices, will see if I can find it.

Thanks Morkhans. I got it. I am just a bit swamped. Will give him a shout or email tomorrow.

Thanks for getting back to me on this one. Has been a real head scratcher and pain in my er .....

Doesn't sound like telemetry to me. That would be detecting the breakdown automatically and communicating this to interested parties.

Your customer is asking for an SMS broadcast.
Fairly easy to implement via interfaces offered by the likes of Clickatell.

A cheapie solution would be PC-based software polling a GSM modem for inbound MO SMS-es and using same for transmitting MT SMS-es.

Hope that helps. ;)

The company that made the slipstream modems, Thetalogix might be of some use, perhaps not in this exact case, but with other solutions.

With a Wavecom GSM modem and AT commands someone will be able to help you.

Trinity Telecoms are the Wavecom people. They may be able to help, or put you in contact with a developer.
