Why don't they prosecute the CEOs of the big banks who have been stealing from the South African public for years.

A man steals a R100 and goes to jail. A company steals billions and nothing happens unless someone raises a red flag, makes a lot of noise and gets some kind of governmental or judicial attention. And even then, the most you can hope for is a fine.

I amazes me how daft some of these "big" institutions are when it comes to IT-related issues. One would think that after the foot-in-mouth debacle by RiSA that people would have learned? But noooo.

Hopefully WikiLeaks is gaining even more exposure in S.A. from the debacle.

The only sad consequence might be that future reports and investigations are protected more heavily. That is why we need to make journalists, reporters, committee members and the general public more aware of tools like Tor, ELE etc, which can help protect whistle blowers from any identification. We'll ultimately be relying on civic minded insiders spilling the beans, I think.

EDIT: As an aside, I wonder who the first brave journalist will be to analyse the censored bits...?
I've also wondered if an Mzansi account may be cheaper for my needs, but I've never checked exactly what the restrictions are.

Well Isn't this really ironic? It just hit me, is it the 'competition commision' asking for the take down? One would think they would be trying to save face by doing something about their findings instead of trying to cover it up.. haha -.-

They'll rather take their chances with the legal fees and media journalists than trying to take on our cartels..

That is what is unfortunate and frustrating about take downs in this country - no grounds need to be given. (the take down was issued to myadsl.co.za )
