Competition winners symbols on jerseys

I know that each team that has won the World Cup has a star added to their uniform above the crest, but I have noticed some oddities. Uruguay have 4 stars, but have only won 2 World Cups. I also saw some Italian players had what looked like the UEFA Champions League trophy badge on their chests. Ghana also have stars on their shirt, which I assume represent their Africa Cup of Nations wins.

Are these 'other' badges and stars allowed? Also, if they are, why don't Bafana wear a star for our 1996 Africa Cup of Nations win?

I was wondering the same thing a week ago, and Googled it:

Four stars appear above the team logo on the jersey. Two represent Uruguay's 1930 and 1950 World Cup victories, and the other two represent the gold medals received at the 1924 and 1928 Summer Olympics, which at the time was the most important international football competition.

But was it the Champions League badge? It looked like that to me, and not all players had it.
