Waaaay back when I was till 19, I had a friend who I liked a lot.... same sort of kaak. I then dated her best girlfriend, got engaged and everything.... well.... 18 years later... Been married to the "friend I liked a lot" for 10yrs now... life is full of twists & turns!
That's not how I expected that story to end...

Yes, your post was ambiguous. You liked girl A, dated her best friend, got engaged (to either her best-friend or someone else) and still ended up marrying girl A later on? Is that it?

It's never a good thing to tell a woman how you feel. Not when you haven't been dating or seeing each other. It puts them on the spot and they feel they have to respond immediately.
If it was a casual "hey lets go to the movies, a bunch of friends and I are going to watch *insert a movie you think she'll be interested in*"
You "tell" her you like her while you're going down on her after.
But yea, stop that **** about giving relationship advice unless you somehow want to get back at her and gives really ****ty advice/devil on her shoulder telling her he's cheating/not interested. It will walk you down a path not many of us are strong enough to walk. If you're willing to chalk this up as a learning experience, try doing/saying stuff to her you wouldn't in a million years to any other chick you might be interested in. Gauge her reaction/response to those things and take that knowledge gained to another more deserving lady.

b) is full of *****
c) is an adult with the emotional maturity of a teenager
