When I switch from Ubuntu to XP to play games, I miss the cube, since I sort app windows across different faces

Compiz fusion, once you get it to work (on some setups it is anything but easy to get working), is by far the best piece of eye candy my Ubuntu has to offer. It's great fun and best of all, it only uses 40-odd megs of RAM!

I had some problems with it on Gutsy (disappearing title bar) but I'll check it out again when I've got Hardy installed .

The problem is pretty much solved in Hardy. I had the problem this morning, but solved it with a restart. The issue lies with your window manager. I use GTK instead of emerald as my window manager in Hardy and it works fine for me.

I doubt M$-based computers will be able to run this awesome piece of compiled code. It actually needs to be in a working state to be able to run efficiently...

running it on an XP box at work. It suprised me. quite stable. I expected it to crash the whole time or just act contrary like M$ schit normally does

I actuallly took those off. I had the one where if you moved your cursor to the side of the screen it would flip next door. Annoyed me to bits- it happened accidentally too often.

the one to the side i took of. I am also running a mac skin which means the min/restore/max buttons are on the left hand side of the border. so no chance of accidentally setting it off.

Dirty trick :

Install Compiz on a laptop which won't be able to run Vista Aero

Ask bragging Vista Aero person first to look up your laptop's specs to see if it supports Vista Aero

then

Flog it in front of same person who's bragging about Vista Aero

I'm able to run Vista at 101% performance. Running compiz, it moves so fast I get motion blur. Compiz runs amazingly smooth, even on an average machine.
